Were the Arrow mixed brigades uniformed and armed by the Italians or the Spanish?

Thanks, Jeff

As far as I know right now, they wore Italian uniforms and equipment too; but shall look into my bibliography as soon as back home again.

Thank you, Lluis.

Bueno shows them in tropical uniform with the M33 Italian helmet, as does the old Osprey (based on Bueno?)

Given the early CTV was in temperate uniform and Adrian, I wonder just what the Fleches wore.

Confirmed, all "Arrows" mixed Spanish/Italian units were equipped and armed exactly the same as the rest of CTV Italian Corps. This includes Blue, Green and Black Arrows brigades.

Bueno book not only shows a plate with two Spanish officers belonging to Green and Black Arrows brigades (plate #69, drawings #177 and #178) but also a photo of this latter brigade on parade in Rome (pg. #85): text explicitly states the troops depicted belonged to a Spanish company lead by Lt. Lafuente.

As for helmets, CTV troops wore Adrian model ones at start, as probably you already know. These started to be replaced by M1933 Italian helmets around 1937.

So Italian uniforms with the M33 helmet sounds like a good option for the Fleches.

Olive grey temperate uniforms, desert khaki tropical uniforms, or a mixture…?

Thank you again, Jeff

Jeff,

It's entirely at your choice, I'd say. On my side, I tend to prefer for my own minis a mid-season clothing, not as specific /limited as full-winter or mid-summer ones. But it's just a personal choice.

I was thinking of using tropical to get a break from all that olive grey!

If so, they'll look certainly great! grin
