I suppose this is aimed more at historical gamers but don't feel constrained.

Had a talk with an acquaintance about whether wargamers tend to also be general history buffs or whether we tend to focus just on the military aspects.

1: I am interested in all manner of history. Roman pottery, Hungarian political organization or WW1 bayonets? I'm in!

2: I am interested in almost everything regarding a particular country or period.

3: I am interested in military history in every period.

4: I am interested in military history of a specific period.

5: "How far do the red guys move?"

I amended 2 to say "country or period" since I know a few ww2 gamers who are interested in things like domestic policies, social mores etc. in that period along with the tiger tanks and penetration scores.

And yeah, take 4 to mean "one or more specific periods" :)

I like military history, particularly weapons and tactics of the flintlock era, but I also like other areas on either side of the flintlock era. I also enjoy political history of the US (my home) and European countries. If a knowledgeable expert speaks on history, I enjoy listening, generally.

1, but let's be real. It's a qualified 1. I have a tremendous interest in most aspects and periods of American History. I have an obsessively unreasonable interest in the Hundred Years period.

I don't know if I could fit into one of the poll choices. I love history in general, mostly though Ancient & medievals, all aspects. My interest drops after the late Medieval period with few exceptions, and doesn't really pick up until the turn of the 20th C.

Damon.
