…Poll!" You've just won the most amazing minis board game with tons of the coolest 28mm pieces. You're researched the game before and you know its a dream to play. The genre is just what you're into right now. Now there's a massive collection of brilliantly sculpted minis but they're all solid hard plastic in only two basic colours that separate the good guy's from the bad. Whats most likely: A. You must paint those beautiful minis before you can even consider playing the game (they're not worthy of play till then) B. You just paint the main hero characters before you can play…the hordes of bad guys can wait C. You intend to paint the entire mini collection at some point but for now "IT'S GAME ON!" D. You play the game without ever considering painting the minis as they're only plastic and it's only a board game. E. You don't play silly board games and have only bought the game for the minis themselves who are now commissioned to play your favourite Tabletop Miniature Game…so they join the lead pile… F. You commissioned a professional painter to paint the whole thing before it ever arrived at your address…when it arrives it's all done and ready to play G. You spray paint the entire collection with white base colours and quickly give the pieces two different colour washes to accentuate the brilliant sculpt's but in minimum time H. Now for something completely different |

For me, it is a solid "A". And I never get around to painting OR playing them. I've got an unpunched copy of Space Hulk and an unpunched copy of The Battle of Five Armies to prove it. And Space Cadets Away Missions. And Memoir 44. And . . . |

I don't think it would even enter into my mind to paint them. |

I'm sad to say I'm an A. Santa brought Imperial Assault and Black Plague Zombiecide and I needed to paint them before I could play. Conan kickstarter is still in its box as I don't have the drive to paint them up…someday I had all my "War of the Ring" minis painted. I'm well envious |

H. Only field painted minis. Perfectly happy to use painted surrogates in lieu of having the right forces painted and ready to go (I haven't used actual period French and Mexicans for our annual Cinco de Mayo battle for a few years now.). |

Something between E and G. I'm a miniatures rather than a board gamer, but I paint my own, and at some point getting the troops on the table trumps getting each casting exactly as I prefer. So yeah, probably a spray paint job, a wash and maybe a drybrush, and a quick grassing of the bases. If I use the army regularly, I'll start touching up and adding detail. |

D. Boardgame minis don't have to live up to my standards for wargame minis. |

If it wasn't 28mm, this would basically be Fantasy Flights "War of the Ring" for me. I don't typically paint them but I have considered it. |

E -- great sources of very inexpensive mini's for my fantasy games… I bought two sets of BattleMasters board games, and two sets of a medieval knights game (forget the name), just for the cool mini's! They painted up quite well. Matter of fact, the second game had bronze-colored plastic mini's for one side, and silver-colored plastic, for the other side. I turned one side into Bronze Plate Mail covered, Hobgoblins, only painting the bits which were not bronze, then applying The Dip. Finished the 90+ figures in record time. The silver side will be Human Knights and Spearmen, again, only needing to paint the bits which are not metal/steel, then The Dip. Some of them are done, most are not, but I have plenty of Humans, already… Cheers! |

I – You play the game with the unpainted minis as they're only plastic and it's only a board game, but you have in the back of your mind that you would like to paint them one day, and you tell that to yourself every time you play…but deep down you know never will. |

D – unless I can put them into a wargame, which for Imperial Assault and most CMON games I can. I've too many unpainted wargames minis to get too distracted. I am painting my Blood Bowl minis though, so I think GW games are an exception. |
