I'd like to collect a platoon to a company of BEF British in 28mm. Ideally I would collect the old BEF Miniatures range, but sadly they are no longer available from Warlord. Now, short of Paul Sawyer seeing this thread and telling me he will get his bods to specially cast up some for me, what are my choices for the 'best' (I know that is a subjective term) figures? I know Warlord do a range, but I would prefer not to use them for the main figures (unless they are the best option). But would probably use them for the Germans. The figures must have the gas mask case on the chest (defining image to me) and I would rather they are in just battledress (no leather jerkins). Being based in the UK, I'd rather be able to get the figures from a UK based retailer, but…. Tim |

Bindon Blood, I have a friend that has what you are looking for but I don't seem to be able to PM you to send you his contact details (email) and for obvious reasons I'm not going to put it up here. If you could pop over to randomplatypus.com and ask in the sales area on there I'll respond there. Cheers. |

I have the Crusader ones, as well as BTD and Westwind. The only gripe I have with the Crusaders is they have the mid-to-late war e-tool. The BEF should have a "German-style" folding shovel with the bayonet on top. Otherwise the Crusaders are very nice. They do not have the respirators on their chest -- I added mine with putty, along with a gas cape on the small pack: link Your complaint about jerkins makes me think you have already seen these?: link If you enjoy conversions, you could add 36 pouches and canteens to the Foundry "Dad's Army figures":http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/our-ranges/worldwar2/british |

Thanks McFonz. Not seen that forum before. Looks interesting, but, can you email me instead at.. royston dot papworth at gmail dot com? Jeff, Yes, I have seen them. They do actually look quite good, but I was trying to avoid the wintery look for the BEF. and no, I am not going to add hundreds of pouches onto Foundry figures. Aargh! :) Tim
