The style of painting and equipment varies with the different books (there are 6). I haven't included any from book 5 as the scans were poor quality. Druzhina 14th Century Illustrations of Costume & Soldiers |

Very interesting, thanks. I hadn't been expecting so many oval shields – reminiscent of some Italian styles (funnily enough, I've just been putting similar shields on 15mm C14th Italian spearmen). |

"Moses orders a massacre", heh. My how times have changed. Is this where the Michelangelo statue got its inspiration for the little "horns"? And is this the prototype for the wizard "Tim"? |

Yes, Moses is sometimes shown with horns in medieval illustrations. The verb used once is that his face "projected". In modern translations this is often "shined", but a different Hebrew word is used for God shining his face on someone or a man using oil to make his face shine. If Moses' face projected light the English verb I would use is "beamed". Where "projected" is used in noun form in only one other use in the OT it is referring to a bull's horns. So Moses probably either had horns or very nasty warts or something (and therefore wore a veil). Druzhina Illustrations of Costume & Soldiers |
