There's a bug?

sjwalker3805 Feb 2017 3:33 p.m. PST

Andrew, it's your imagination, or have you been over-imbibing again? Or maybe you need to change your settings…or your computer…or your internet provider…

I received one complaint, fixed it. Hope it was the same one you are seeing…

(If you have different homepage settings than I do, I may not be able to "see" your bug.)

The Super-bug, and its legion of minions are all powerful.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to post.

Plenty of 'errors' such as the old 'Lock File' as well as duplications and 'empty' posts. I just assumed it was all 'undocumented features' and left it up to Bill.

A quick fix until Bill deletes the buggy post is to simply ignore the member who posted it. The post will disappear but donīt forget to un-ignore him later! grin

I am finding TMP buggy in the extreme. Good old lock file and others, plus it seems to run very, very slow at times.

What bug? Where?

What bug? Where? I'm looking straight ahead and I don't see no bug!

Great War Ace06 Feb 2017 8:19 a.m. PST

Long page load times is the main "Bug" on TMP. Not consistent. This morning, right now, no trouble.

But, I will take the gun. You can keep the dice, and the red diapers………………..

Late last night (about 11:30 P.M. Pacific Standard Time) numbers of threads, including this one, and the message boards section would not open even with repeated tries. There was no notification of the nightly maintenance shutdown--nor was it really quite time for that yet. It had nothing to do with my computer or service provider, as other websites worked fine. I'm not complaining, as there are bound to be occasional problems with anything this complex, but I thought I ought to put it on the record.

By the way, I do not see the big bug in the posting above either!

that M bug is coming up on a regular basis. surely on line 556 where the code is looking for > but finding 'm', changing it to > might help? (it's a long long time since I did database design and that was all using SQL databases and PHP coding to link it to the website.

Ha hah hah! This is what happens when you loose in a hand wrestling match with a Mutant Catfish-Man, when the Spring rains begin and flood the Uxee River Basin!

Now I know that the lunatics HAVE taken over the asylum.

aBHs;

I suspect your 'long time ago' experience makes you uniquely qualified to comment on the practical aspects of TMP database management – at least half the members weren't born when the OS was in general use

(says the dinosaur who still remembers slide rules, books of log tables and tippex)
