…distant ancestors. "Human bloodlust—from war to murder—traces back millions of years to our primate ancestors. That's the conclusion of a controversial new study, which reaches far back into our family tree to uncover the evolutionary roots of lethal violence among more than 1000 mammalian species. "It's nice to see where humans fall in relation to other species," says Polly Wiessner, an anthropologist at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City who studies violence and peacemaking in Papua New Guinea. But she says the sweeping analysis relies on imprecise data and doesn't provide new information about the cultural subtleties that affect when and how humans deploy violence…." Sadly, we kill because it's easy (tool users, after all) because many of us find it fun and because often there's money in it. It's easy to work out why we do it. It's slowing us down which is the tricky part. |

Considering that only a minority of humans kill, I would say one should look at those few that do it, to get an answer of why they kill. |

War and murder are two different things |

Not according to Clausewitz. The core of war, its base element is killing :) But I get your point. Then again, even in war most of the people who participate in war, are not actually doing much or any killing. |

Humans kill because they think too much…. or not at all…. their choice…. |

Imho in War you kill because you are afraid… mostly… and to defend your life… very few enjoy it… but there are a group who really was born for that … Amicalement Armand

In war it is a proven fact that a minority do the most killing while the majority of the combatants do the dying. I've read some where or other that as we become more tech savvy this ratio becomes even more extreme. So its more likely as in normal society that a few individuals will do most of the killing while the majority just hope they're not the casualty. |

If we factor civilians, I think it's been a while since combatants made up the majority of the dying, unfortunately. |

So, the killer ape theory is back in vogue from the 60s. Jane Goodall has a lot to answer for. |

…distant ancestors. Damn!!! I bet on "toilet habits". So when I achieve 0 hits with eight D6, despite hitting on 4s and above, it's just my little lead men "being human"? |

It is my opinion that trousers are too constricting and lead to male infertility. That is why I kilt. And being of Scottish and Irish descent I can in fact lay this desire to kilt at the feet of my ancestors. So what's the big issue here? Cheers. Rod Robertson. |

100% of mass murdering politicians wore trousers. Fight fascism today – let it hang free! |
