Looks like the Ultramarines primarch will be the first one to return after his coma.

This has been hinted at since at least 2nd edition, that, even though he was in a stasis field he was slowly recovering from his injury.

I guess it took about 10K years but he managed it.

This could be really interesting as I can't imagine the primarchs, having known the emperor and denied his divinity, will be all that keen on seeing the theocracy that the Imperium has become.

Come up fine for me.

Our Spiritual Liege has considered pulling Ultramar from the Imperium before…

Oh, this will end well.

Ok but he's just a Primarch. All his bad boy brothers have 10,000 years of experience and are Demon Princes.

That's pretty cool. I remember reading the fluff about his stasis situation back in the mid-90s. Great long-term storytelling from GW.

Cue the start of the 40k reboot…

Here comes, "Age of Guilliman"…

"Here comes, "Age of Guilliman"…"

One can only hope. I'd love to see a 40K reboot along the lines of AoS.

Here is another picture:

Definitely preferred the orginal sculpt, especially the face, it looks like the designer was channelling one of the more unpleaseant Roman Emporers for inspiration. Also aren't the ultramarine supposed to the Codex-obsessives, that armour dosen't look entirely standard issue to me!

Of course, if you take Magnus, you're really limiting yourself on what else you can take.

And Guillame doesn't have to be a flying monstrous creature to be very effective. He may give Ultramarine a ton of buffs, give the army strategic advantages, etc.

Pictors Studio03 Feb 2017 4:20 p.m. PST

I don't think Bobby G. would fit in standard issue armour. He is probably about 2 feet taller than the average space marine.

If by original sculpt you mean the Forgeworld model, I like this one better. The sculpting on the other one might edge this one out, and the ornate armour here doesn't look as good as that, but the pose is so much better than the Forge World one.

I do prefer the helmeted version here though.

malleman03 Feb 2017 5:06 p.m. PST

From what I read in the article it will be plastic.

KTravlos04 Feb 2017 3:07 a.m. PST

All I care about is how "If the Emperor had a text to speech device" deals with this. Emps really hates Guilliman.

Capt Flash04 Feb 2017 7:17 a.m. PST

I like both the Heresy and this sculpt. I'd pick this up just to convert. I wonder if he's tall enough to use in Inquisitor games? That's be great.
Now we just need the resurrection of The Angel. Sanguinius is my favorite Primarch alongside Ferrus Manus and Perturabo. Lol, I seem to favor the deceased.

Pictor, for once I agree with you, the helmet version is better.

Though the first Primarch back should have been.

Lion El'Jonson

Since he was the very First Primarch from the very first Legion/Chapter.

Old Rowboat is looking pretty good. I definitely like the inclusion of a helmet on this one, and I hope they do that with more of the hero models going forward.

Just give me the Lion and Leman, and I'll be good on 40k for a while. If they actually do break up the Imperium a bit, I'm hoping they do away with the Chapters and bring back Legions.

"guess it took about 10K years but he managed it"

To be fair, I've had hangovers like that.

alpha3six06 Feb 2017 7:33 p.m. PST

He's not fully recovered, he's only walking thanks to the xenostech life support module on his back, which incidentally makes for one great big achilles heel. I'm sure they put that in for a reason.

Centurio Prime08 Feb 2017 11:00 a.m. PST

Mithmee… the Fallen Dark Angel Cypher was spotted in one of the pictures, fighting alongside Guilliman…. I think there will be some storyline about The Lion, Cypher, etc which remains to be seen.

Mithmee08 Feb 2017 7:22 p.m. PST

Well Cypher does tend to be an enigma.

"I know not whether Cypher is the greatest threat, or the greatest hope for the Imperium. I only pray we can stop him before we find out."

Echoco14 Feb 2017 3:27 p.m. PST

What if he comes back decided the Imperium strayed too far and lead his Chapter + the closer successor chapters on a rampage to wipe the Imperium clean.

Ignoring the surrounding space G-man head towards Terra and decimate it, second age of strife ensues.

He defeats all other Primarchs and takes the emperor off life support.
Once Terra is unified he decides to erase all history and prevent human race from worshiping gods again.
He retires his marines and set on creating new ones first by making clones of himself to be his sub commanders and using their genes to create a new army before heading out to recapture territories lost to aliens.

I think it would be pretty cool if the Primarch's formed a new faction of humans that was at war with the Ecclisastic Imperium.

Then you would actually have good guys in the game.

Mithmee15 Feb 2017 6:49 p.m. PST

That just might be coming once the of "End of Times" happens.
