I hope you don't mind my asking this question here, but I am racking my brains without result, and my Googliness has deserted me.

When I was a kid in the mid 80s, we used to play a very simple fantasy RPG, the rules of which were in three or four 'novel-sized' books, sort of like the 'Fighting Fantasy' / 'Choose your Own Adventure' thing, but a fully-fledged (if basic) RPG. The only features I really remember is that one rolled 3d6 for stats (strength, agility etc), there were no 'skills', and there was a spell called 'Dragon's Breath'. I think a later book introduced a player type of 'warlock' which was a cross between a warrior and a wizard. Oh – and I remember that different weapons inflicted set hit points – I think a sword was 4, for example.

Can anyone help?

Either Steve Jackson's Sorcery rules, or maybe Dragon Warriors ?

Yes – 'Dragon Warriors' indeed – thanks so much. The name did not not ring a bell, but when I googled it, I remembered the cover. Many a happy afternoon back in the day.

Thanks again.

Sounds similar, but cooler than, "Wizards, Warriors, and You"
