I just completed some new L Class River Patrol Boats. Just thought I would blog out on what I have been doing. I will be going to Recon 2017 again this year, I hope to see you there.

Nice.

Outstanding, as usual, Sir!

Will one of these appear in "The Hun, The Frog, And Lion" scenario you'll be running along with Jeff Baumal?

I know Jeff has been working for months to bring this multi-player/team game to the table in the best possible looking form, and I understand you're helping provide the Naval portion for the landings.

Any chance you can crank out a Xebec or two in time? Even if they don't randomly appear in the game, just knowing they're sitting on a table nearby will help drive the German and French players nuts.

That game is going to be one for the ages!

As ever, the very best of luck to you in all your projects!

Great stuff as usual Dan.

What guns did you use on these and who did you get them from?

BTW, I just purchased a few dhows from Dan and they are absolutely wonderful. He is a great guy to do business with.

Oh Boy Danno! Those look awesome!!!!! Dan has made it very difficult for me to choose which one of his awesome boats I will use to ferry the imperial forces to their disembarking points.

I've got some of his dhows, one of which I will use as a zebeck, alongside the zebec I purchased from you Patrick, which Houston made many years ago. And I can assure you the zebecs will not sit on the sidelines inactive during this game. Stay tuned for the official announcement of this epic game to be run at Recon 2017 in May!!!!!

Cheers,
JB

Doctor X,
The two boats in front have a Eureka QF 3pdr. The boat along the back has a Houston's (TVAG) QF 3" gun without the gun shield.
Thanks for the complement!

I'm late to the party but will chime in to echo all of the above: fantastic work, Dan!

One question: you glue a 1" washer UNDERNEATH the wooden gun deck, and a magnetic base on the topside is strong enough to reach through the wood and hold a gun firmly in place?

hunter4a08 Feb 2017 8:08 p.m. PST

Mad Guru,
You are correct. I also mount a washer under the guns and then use a loose disc magnet from Magcraft (Rare Earth magnets) to secure the gun in place. Not your typical magnet very powerful.

Hey Dan, are those my flags on those L Class Boats?
Cheers,
JB

The front one is a Flag Dude (Gold Top) but the others are the ones you made…

SgtGuinness22 Feb 2017 7:27 a.m. PST

Cool Dan, the boats look awesome. Though Rick's flags are really great I'm gonna have to use mine when I get my L Class boat from you. I love the versitality of this boat. It looks like it would be just as applicable in China, other parts of Africa, or S. America as it would be in the Sudan. And the price is right!!!!!

Gotta get me one LSD. Or should I call you "The Boat Dude"? Lol

Cheers,
JB
