Hello,

had the blue uniform and raupenhelm been issued to the Bavarian army in 1800 or was the older Rumford white uniform still being worn ?

Rumford fell out of favour in 1799, and uniform reforms were supposedly introduced straight afterwards. According to this website, 1800 seems to be the change-over point; the infantry and generals/staff appear to be wearing blue by 1800, but the cavalry and artillery are shown still wearing the Rumford uniforms in that year. It is most probable that the issuing of the new uniforms took a while, possibly until 1801:-

Cantler is thought to be very reliable. The raupenhelm appears to have been introduced, for all arms, in 1801, which might explain the artillery and engineers still in bicornes for 1800.

good question, most likley a mix – even within a regiment – white coats, blue coats, old helmet, hats, grey greatcoats

To show how complex it could be

To sum up the fusilier battlions of IR nr. 6 entered the campaign still in white coates – only the greandiers – as elite troops, were clad according to the new regulations with blue coats and did wear on the hats red feather plumes …

The units of Richepance mistook the opposing Bavarians as Austrians.
