Since the real "Bommas" are hard (and expensive!) to come by these days, I'm looking for some proxy fill-ins in 6mm/1:285. Something sci-fi WWII-esque should do. Thanks for any tips!

doesnt someone do a steampunk game in around 6mm ish – I recall some of the British bombers looking orky enough, can't recall the game at the moment, sorry.

Possibly Dystopian Wars?

Dystopian Wars is closer to 1/700th, more like 3mm.
The range from Vanguard might be more useful :) link

Those sure look familiar Walrus! Thanks!

Personally I would repurpose these lancastirans link or stukhogs link unless I was going to use them for Imperial forces.

Vanguard is great for Epic Proxies and from what I see and hear, good quality & great service.

Get a bunch of 1/300 or 1/350 fighters and orky them up.

I know you said you are looking for a smaller scale model, but if cost is the only issue with a full-sized bomber, look at this conversion blog article:

I have a load of 1/350th WW2 plastic planes (including some B-24's) will have to give that a go. Would work well with P-47's.

You could "Orky up" some early Soviet jets, like the MiG-15 and MiG-17.

I see I need to make some book marks for possible later use in a resurrection of Hard Vacuum!

Artraccoon's obviously right about the original inspiration.

ManofErebor, pretty sure he was talking specifically micro scale, though that IS a beaut! Reminds me of the Mitchell bomber I was going to make into an Ork buggy for a 40K deathrace. ;->=

It's funny that Imperial & Eldar bombers are so readily available on Ebay but not so the Orkies.

I'm looking at some of those 3d printed 6mm bombers as possible conversions. I would need a generous portion of rocket & gun pods though.

Here's a couple interesting ones. A good Orky paint job might keep them from looking too "Imperial".

Not sure about the availability of that one any more.
