We had a fun game of sabresquadron.com yesterday..

A T-80 company supported by mechanized infantry and batallion artillery vs a BAOR combined arms group of chieftains and infantry supported by half a battery of mortars.

The rules work pretty well and are fun. We used a variant that the author recommended in the forum that in his view is a bit more realistic when it comes to survivability of tanks but it added a bit of extra fun to the game..

Brits edged out a victory in the end but it was a hard fought encounter till the very end…

Great looking game. Where did you get those roads or how did you make them?

creativeguy30 Jan 2017 9:18 a.m. PST

I have been considering some roads myself now that I finally made some other terrain decisions, so I can move on to infrastructure.

Yes.. they are great for 6mm… They are felt so you can adjust to contour in terrain. You get long straights that you can cut to make shorter segments and you can get them clean or with different pavement patches and skid marks.

Also guys, anyone who hasn't tried Sabresquadron I would recommend giving it a try. When team yankee came out I was eager to try it in 6mm and then finiding Sabresquadron I realized this one is as fast play as team yankee but a bit more streamlined for 6mm and it has a few ideas like the way artillery works that are fun and original.

And now the two army lists for the 80s, 7 Days to the Rhine and Article 5 are out and they include Tons of lists and are easy to use.

cheers

The table looks great. Personally, I prefer 15mm, I (almost) could never resist the look of 1/100 armor. But I admit, 1/285 – 6mm, means "more metal on the mat!" and cheaper )

I have to ask,..
All of your AFV's are based, did you do this, or is this particular line of minis sold, miniature and base molded as one?

I also noticed 2 'cars' (nice touch). I didnt know anyone did 'civy' vehicles in that scale.. (senior moment here) GHQ by chance?

seldonH07 Feb 2017 3:50 p.m. PST

I based them, I used litko smal FoW bases, I like it better like that for this scale… models are mostly GHQ.

The cars, pretty sure I got them at a hobby shop for railroad models.

1/285 is just nice for moderns because you can do larger actions… 15s of course really look great..
I do have sci fi in 15s :)

cheers

They have several AARs in 15mm (using our vehicles and infantry) :-)
