So we'll do one of the "minor" powers next and one that rarely gets to take the field entirely on its own. Do you have Poles in your armies? Why did you paint them up? What makes them fun on the table? |

I have some AB Guard Lancers to paint. I wanted to create Lepic's Imperial Guard brigade for my Peninsula games. I hope they will be fun to use – the first lancer unit to join my collection. |

Polish Crimson…. Try as you like..it never seems quite right. But that is why I keep doing it. And no one really knows, even with faded museum relics. Plus they created a cavalry arm…..indeed, a look, which everyone had to emulate. The Tschapka on yer head (everyone adopted that) and the kurtka jacket (the latter so good the British Light Dragoons copied it totally). |

Polish troops have style, panache, bravery, dedication -- what's not to like? |

Great tropps, lots of interesting figure ranges and of course Napoleons most faithufll and toughest allies. And there is the dashing personality of Poniatowski. One of my favourite characters in this period. |

The +1 modifier against Russian troops that I add. |

Poniatowski? Overrated. Couldn't swim, to save his life……. Nice rig though |

Great uniforms Tough fighters Rock hard steady To quote a buddy "A Polish soldier is standing on guard when an Austrian charges him from one side and a Russian charges him from the other Who does he shoot first? Simple answer – the Austrian; business before pleasure" |

Good one Frederick. Cool uniforms, Murawski Miniatures! |

I know you are joking deadhead, but I do remember reading he had been shot several times, before attempting to cross. Makes a dip in the pool kinda hard. |

Sure – 4 Line infantry regiments, 4 Vistula Legion infantry (done for Borodino), 4 Uhlans, 1 Hussar, 1 Chassuer, one foot battery… have to add a Horse Battery by Murawski eventually,. Great uniforms. one of the few willing French Allies, fougfht extensively 1808-1813… earlier if you count the "legions". |

1. Czapskas. 2. Lancers. 3. Beautiful uniforms. 4. High morale against everyone. I mean, the Russians, Austrians and Prussians all hate them, and want to erase them from the map of europe (again). So you may as well take as many of your neighbors with you as you can before they delete you… |

What I remember reading was that he was drunk while crossing the river. Hense the phrase do not drunk and swim. |

The new Strelets Polish infantry in marching poses. 44 figures for £6.30 GBP. Great uniforms Second vote for Polish crimson A big enough contingent to field on those own |

I have a feeling that any shots involved in his drowning came from a gun and not a brandy bottle. Brave guy. Many other senior officers in that situation might have just surrendered……. |

Polish Crimson….Try as you like..it never seems quite right. Very true. It is like aurore – it is a colour that exists only in your imagination. The shade you use on your figures will always be a touch too red or a tad too blue. Unless of course you still use Humbrol enamels and you've got a pot that says 'Polish Crimson' on the lid. In that case you are sorted. |

I agree that it was probably the best in that Authenticolours range…..French Artillery green was also highly desirable. Never was too sure about Prussian Dragoon blue, Rifles Green or British Scarlet…… |

I only do Napoleonics for the Retreat from Moscow but definitely have some Poles in my army. Murawski makes excellent sculpts and his customer support is amazing. I added Poles because they're cool and because of my family heritage – Lesikiewicz/Jaskolska from Pryzemsyl and Danzig, respectively. |

One of my favorite Napoleonic Armies but, unfortunately one of the other guys in our group has already done them, so I can't find a excuse to go there. My wife has just ordered a collectors style figure, (54MM+), of Poiniatowsk as an anniversary gift however, and from the photos of it I have seen it looks beautiful. Can't wait!! Its' kind of pricey, (at least for my blood), but my cause was assisted in this regard by the fact that she is Polish herself. Always helps to have the in-laws on your side. John Miller |

Gonsalvo and I have similar Polish armies: 2 Line infantry regiments, 1 Vistula Legion infantry (early uniforms, very cool), 4 Uhlans, 1 Imperial Guard Lancers, one foot battery, one horse battery, 1 converged grenadiers (because I had the entra figures). My figures are mostly Minifigs 2nd gen, with some Heritage thrown in. I've used mine in Spanish battles. |

Great uniforms, great history, great figures from Murawski :) |

My dad was Polish. And my uncle married a girl named Poniatowski*. And they provide an exotic variant on the typical French/Confederation uniforms. Excellent cavalry. And a romantic Lost Cause. And their hats are kind of silly. *yes, pretty direct descendant.
