What I like about this hobby is the way I still get surprised by exceptionally good new figures. The Tier 1 figures released by Spectre Miniatures are among the finest I have seen In a while but two in particular stand out. These two fellows;
Amazing animation and excellent painting. Very exciting discovery! Can you recommend any modern day type scenarios – maybe a particular book? Thanks link to Spectre Miniatures web site |

I have a good few of their figures and the rules are good, brutal and fast. what I have been doing is using the Force on force ambush alley scenario books which are superb reference and detail, Afghanistan, Iraq, special ops and bush wars as a basis and swap out for my own collection. Avoid getting hung up on the costs or rather points from the rules as the scenario generated game is much more rewarding. To avoid lots of militia to match points wise use hidden set up regeneration of dead militia OPFOR types you cant beat the scenarios in the aforementioned books for this in all honesty |

Film and TV are also your friend, such as 13 hours, Sicario, the Unit, Strike Back which deal with special ops etc, each one is a scenario waiting to be played out |

Likewise historical situations can inspire scenarios, from accurate simulations to freer interpretations. You could set the Mayaguez Incident in contemporary times, for example, but have the pirates be a covert PLA unit. Those are great-looking figures with excellent paint jobs. |

They'd make good proxies for the male cast members of the modern Hawaii 5-0. |

Nice figures….if you get them. A year ago my son Andrew ordered from them, then no product, then weeks later, we are shipping your order but no product. In the end we are out 50 bucks and no recourse as they are in the UK. So good luck. Friends have ordered and received product. They are the ONLY company of the 30 we have ordered from that straight ripped us off. |

I think they've upped their game after quite a few complaints, I ordered from them last week and received the figures 3 days later. |

If you order via credit card, contact your card company if a seller fails to deliver goods; they can often get the money back regardless of location. I ended up never placing an order after seeing the problems others had. |

I ordered quite a pile of stuff from them, probably $100 USD worth (lots of civvies). Arrived just fine, I just need to find time to get them painted. |
Field Marshal | 31 Mar 2017 10:03 p.m. PST |
What sort of scenario and theatre would these be good for? |
Private Matter | 01 Apr 2017 4:40 p.m. PST |
I have several of these figures, and in fact just got a bunch more from Spectre, I use them with the rules Black Ops and ATZ. I'm in the process of learning Force on Force and see them as good for that. I've placed three orders with them over the past year and have never had an issue. |

I would recommend them, I have had no problem with them at all. |
Henry Martini | 19 Apr 2017 6:26 p.m. PST |
With slight weapon mods they'd pass as right-wing militia in an ACW2 setting. |
Lion in the Stars | 19 Apr 2017 11:34 p.m. PST |
@Field Marshal: well, the obvious scenario would be Western intelligence agency troops on a raid. Another option would be DEA undercover types doing a Ghost Recon type game. As Henry Martini mentions, they'd also work as well-armed "civilians" or militia types in all sorts of scenarios in the US. I'd really like for Spectre Minis to do some female civilians. Yeah, I know burkhas aren't very interesting, but you can still do a variety of them. |

Spectre are utterly HORRIBLE at responding to their e-mail. They say to remind them if no reply has been received within 48 hours, but even after giving them plenty of time, and then following up several times still no response! The rules are good and some of the miniatures are quite good, but timely customer service is NON EXISTENT. I don't care if they're a "small startup", responding to customers in a timely manner is a requirement to STAY in business. |
