A brief report on a game of David Manley's excellent (and free) coastal warfare rules, Schnell Rules for Schnellboote!

They were a lot of fun and worked really well.

Nice AAR. I especially liked your painting of the trawler.

Who makes/sells the ships?

I think they are from the Skytrex range.

IIRC, Ros and Heroics now own them.

Yep, old Skytrex.

That's a cracking looking game, I might have to try coastal. Thanks Boggler

You're welcome. These rule would be a good place to start.

Enjoyed your write-up and pics. Thanks for sharing.

Another option, if you aren't playing solo, is to give each side a chart/map of the play area, and have them pre-plot courses, speeds, formations, etc., like real sailors do, and then have them move according to their plan, before contact takes place.

Roll for detections, if any, as they close on one another.

I've used that in the past, and it's worked well.

If playing solo, decide on your own course, speed, formation(s), etc., and then roll randomly for those of your "opponent".
