Did the British officers that were in command of the Sudanese units wear the same uniform as the unit or did they wear the standard khaki desert uniform??

British officers attached to non-British units had quite a lot of leeway when it came to service dress. Most would be in the standard Khaki for the period after 1896, but you could go with different varieties and colors of helmets or jackets for that matter as well.

They tended to buy their own kit and presumably would use different tailors to make up their uniform to the correct pattern but there would be variations.

They also took personal weapons with them.

I know you didn't ask about the Royal Navy but those officers wore shirt and tie in combat on occasions.

There's also the ever popular blue patrol jacket.
