I'm working on a project for the Battle of Borodino. I plan on using Grand Manor's Shevardino Redoubt; however, the measurements aren't making sense. Based on their website, it is 3 feet long by 3 feet wide and 1 foot deep. Does anyone own this product that can confirm those measurements for me and/or provide more visuals for me? Thanks! |

If you go to the Grand Manner site link you can see a picture with models for scale. It is in the basic shape of the redoubt and is a superb piece of modelling. You still have to add ditches and stakes but it is a good central piece. The measurements quoted are Internal Length =980mm. Width 800mm x Depth 340mm. It is a big piece. |

I think that the problem is that you're interpreting internal length as actual length. Instead, imagine pulling the redoubt out of shape into a straight line… that would be some 38" (980mm). I must admit that I am having trouble seeing the 800mm width unless that represents the measurement from the two tips farthest from one another. I have a number of their pieces and I have been very happy with all of them. |

Ditch was only about a foot deep, and no stakes. The model seems fine (yes, the 980mm is the circumference, and I too am having trouble seeing the 800mm dimension, particularly based on the size of Hourtoulle's book. It really doesn't resemble the actual redoubt, but would make a gorgeous piece for the tabletop. An actual 1:56 version would fit roughtly within a 35" x 39" box, and would be a very impressive, albeit very stationary piece. |
