With this board averaging 1.5 posts a month for the first three years of its existence, should it be scrapped and the money saved be spent on something enjoyed by many …or a new computer for one of the Editors?

OK, OK …and my spouse has left me!

No, we should split it into more boards.

vtsaogames18 Jan 2017 8:20 a.m. PST

Once the code is developed, boards don't really cost much unless they generate a lot of traffic and use bandwidth.

Hafen von Schlockenberg18 Jan 2017 9:28 a.m. PST

So what's happening over on the TMP Contests board?

zoneofcontrol18 Jan 2017 9:50 a.m. PST

Should we have a Contest involving posting to the Wargaming Spouses board? We could kill two spouses… err, umm, birds with one stone.

VonTed18 Jan 2017 10:36 a.m. PST

There is a contest board?!

Combine the Contest Board with Wargaming Spouses board and call it Contested Divorces.

If we divorce the warming spouses board will it end up with half of TMP?

axabrax19 Jan 2017 8:31 a.m. PST

My feeling is there should be one bored for each wife.

Weasel19 Jan 2017 9:32 a.m. PST

We need separate boards for religious or civil marriage ceremony, per denomination of faith and for each gender configuration.
Plus a board for "we're just not ready yet" and "we are basically married but reject marriage as an institution"

On a serious note, if your spouse has really left you, I hope you are okay.

sjwalker3819 Jan 2017 2:10 p.m. PST

Somehow, a 'Wargaming Spouses' board doesn't have the appeal that 'Readers' Wives' had in other publications of my youth.

And, just to clarify, does the non-gender specific spouse have to be a gamer themselves (as the title suggests), which might explain the lack of posts, or is it the spouse OF a gamer that is the subject of the board?

Or am I just over-thinking this after a large glass of Merlot?

Silent Pool19 Jan 2017 2:46 p.m. PST

Tacitus, thanks for your concern, all is back to normal.

My spouse took two bags of my washing to the laundromat instead of the usual one. I got hopeful …I mean concerned! evil grin

Thanks

Board usage doesn't matter in the slightest, though.

'VTT (Virtual Tabletops)' averaged one thread every two years 2004-2010.

Then no posts at all for three years.

Then a frenzy of activity – four threads in one year!

Of course, there's a separate board for 'Maps', but at 25 threads last year, it probably couldn't cope with the avalanche of traffic which would arise from combining them.

"More is More", apparently.

Last Hussar21 Jan 2017 11:38 a.m. PST

and my spouse has left me!

When did you finally notice?

Hafen von Schlockenberg21 Jan 2017 12:20 p.m. PST

I'm with axabrax--there should be a "Bored Wives" board.

Supercilius Maximus22 Jan 2017 2:49 a.m. PST

Noooo – they'll just start comparing measuring stick sizes…

Florida Tory22 Jan 2017 8:46 a.m. PST

There was a time when Bill would remove a board for lack of use.

Tacitus, thanks for your concern, all is back to normal.
Not sure if he was J/K all along now.

As for the board, Im with @sjwalker38
"Wargaming Spouses" and "Spouses OF Wargamers"
IMHO: two completely different types of personalities.

At our LGS, one gamer told us;
"his wife was embarrassed to have her friends know, that she was married to "a grown man that played with toys".

On the flip side.
A young sailor was briefly stationed in our area, also an RPG gamer. Not only was his wife 'OK' w/ his hobby. She painted the character figs for him.
That girl was 'an artist'. They were incredible.

Our lass (Yorkshire term) has always been aware of my interest in toy soldiers and been supportive (or at least understanding). It keeps me out of trouble and costs less than boozing, fags and other women…..and doesn't turn me in to a Bleeped text like golf

Weasel04 Mar 2017 8:53 a.m. PST

I met SWMBO through tabletop roleplaying so while she doesn't partake in mini's gaming much, she's into games in general.

Hafen von Schlockenberg04 Mar 2017 4:10 p.m. PST

Into "games" is she?

Supercilius Maximus05 Mar 2017 2:20 a.m. PST

Mine accepts my hobby (albeit on the strict understanding that any venture into re-enactment will result in instant divorce) and even checks with me what I would like for Christmas and birthdays, and books rooms for trips to tournaments etc. I did tentatively talk about another Weegie Woman (like my wife) who also sings (ditto), and who games with her hubbie and their two sons. She didn't bite, but I've not completely given up……

She is a diamond.

I have never been quite sure what the purpose of that board was…
