My friend Thomas bought into Kingdom Death Monster way back with the v.1.0 Kickstarter and I got around to try it out with him a couple of weeks ago. I put together a post which is both a rundown of our games and a review merged into one text.

Overall I think the game is enjoyable and consists of many well made parts that make up the experience of playing the game. I would not rate it the best game I have ever played, and think the game has been hyped beyond what it does offer, the last Kickstarter for v.1.5 was just insane.

Some fans have called it the ultimate "boardgame killer" that would kill all other boardgames out there. I don't think that it will come close to doing that – mainly due to lack of availability and the expensive price tag.

I did enjoy the games we played but was perhaps less impressed overall than I had anticipated from reading some previews. The best part of the game is the individual decks of cards that make up the AI for the various monsters. The creator of the game have managed to put together some very good and unique personalities for the various monsters you are hunting.

That was a really good write up. You did a great job explaining how the game flowed. I was in on the first Kickstarter, but I just never grasped how the game was played. And, yes, the combat board looked dull given the miniatures. I bailed on it with no regrets.

The price tag prevents me from being able to own and play this game. I enjoyed the write-up, Anatoli!
