Beautiful table and excellent AAR. The BBB rules are one of my favorite sets. Always ends up in a good game.

Colonel Jean Louis Metman commanded the 3rd Grenadiers of the French Imperial Guard at Magenta. Metman and his regiment fought like lions during the battle. The 3rd Grenadiers suffered almost 500 casualties that bloody day. Metman was promoted to General de Brigade in 1860. This photo was taken in 1861.

General de Division Émile Mellinet commanded the 1st Infantry Division of the French Imperial Guard (aka the Grenadier Division) during the Franco-Austrian War (aka Italian campaign of 1859). The division was formed by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grenadiers and the Regiment of Zouaves of the Imperial Guard. They fought like demons at Magenta. Mellinet proudly wrote after the battle, "I hope that the Emperor will be pleased with his Grenadiers and Zouaves, for I defy anyone to find braver troops."

General de Brigade Cler, the intrepid Cler, commanded the 1st Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division of the French Imperial Guard in 1859. The 1st Brigade was formed by the 1st Grenadiers and the Regiment of Zouaves of the Imperial Guard. Two elite infantry units. Cler was killed at the Battle of Magenta when he was leading the ferocious Zouaves of the Imperial Guard.
