I have become a fan of the Father Brown series by G.K. Chesterton, and I would like to find a mini that would do a good job representing the character. Any ideas> Here's a pic:

I've never seen the series, but the short stories are brilliant. GKC was an amazingly colourful writer. Good luck with finding the figure! |

The hat would not be quite right but Perry do a Spanish Priest in the Carlist range, or French Canadian Jesuits have the advantage you do not have to buy a whole packet -Redoubt and maybe others. If you are a perfectionist it would probably be fairly simple to file the hat brim a little. Otherwise its the pulp ranges, good luck with that. |

Mark Williams is great, but the books are MUCH better. The series seems to suffer from decreasing funding and some over-acting from certain players. BUT good stuff for gaming. (?) |

Closest one I could find online: link Another look: link I have a clergyman miniature with a hat and Bible, but I can't remember which company produced it. I don't have a photo of it yet. |

I'm not sure whether you need 28mm, larger or smaller, but you might look at model railroad civilians. The sets always come with a priest in round hat, clutching a bible. Short jacket though, so you'd have to model the long frock. |

My Uncle is a member of the Chesterton society. He also plays father brown in a few EWTN movies. Kevin Obrien. While lower production costs than bbc or pbs…the character is still a good one.

Essex used to make a medieval/renaissance Cardinal figure in this outfit, sans umbrella. Can't recall what range it was in or anything else very useful -- this was back in the 1980s! |

Here are a couple of miniatures I've had for a while. I put photos of them in Flickr. link I painted the priest's costume red because he looked more like a cardinal than a regular priest. Still, I can always "demote" him. The private eye would make a great Inspector Mallory if it weren't for the gun. I did a Google search for the priest miniature, but Google couldn't find a similar miniature. |

Not a perfect match but Warlord Games has these figures from the Dad's Army range: link |

I looked up Spanish Inquisition miniatures on Google--there's a set on Victoria Miniatures that includes someone dressed more or less like Father Brown. |

RAFM has some priests in their classic Chthulu line, middle one might be best, though perhaps not portly enough: link Their new line has a priest too, but no real Father Brown traits other than the garb (but no hat). Crucible Crush has another in their Cthulu line, but again not perfect unless you want FB performing exorcisms all the time: link |

Maybe the RAFM figure would work for Father Brown saying Mass. Maybe I'll add a beret to a priest miniature and make a representation of Don Matteo, another Catholic priest who solves mysteries in Gubbio. I'd need some Carabinieri figures to go along with it, though. |

Great character…my searches drew this 'hatless priest' up on War-games Foundry: link

I found this one from Iron Wind Miniatures. link The description includes a mace, although I can't see it in the photo. |

This thread got me to reading a bunch of Father Brown stories--for which, thank you. However, I wonder what sort of gaming you had him in mind for? I play a lot of Pulp Alley--he could work maybe as the system has a lot of space for non-combat skills, but Father Brown isn't exactly a dynamic character. |
