And having perished your blog I am even more taken by how lovely the game looks. Reminds me of being young again – although my first "proper" painted armies were Minifigs.

Very impressive!

That set up looks fantastic! Thank you for posting images.

Those are absolutely delightful!

Nice and shiny, the way all proper, proud toy soldiers should be. None of that matt varnished rabble in these barracks!

Thank you for showing these. Looking forward to the conclusion of the battle!

Great blog. Love the humor. Makes me want to break out the shiny minifigs!

What beautiful looking figures and game. I love the clean look of the terrain. What did you use? The figures are painted beautifully.

Its an old plywood ping pong table, sawn-up kitchen cabinet doors, Merit trees, walls and hedges and airfix buildings. It almost all dates back to the 60s, Ragbones, but then so do I!

Thank you for sharing that. I now know the manufacturer of several battalions in a painted Westphalian Army I bought some 30 years ago. The fellow I bought it from had used French figures and painted them in Westphalian colors. There were several battalions of smaller figures that I could never figure out the make. Turns out they are Hinton Hunt and have the exact same poses shown in your photos. So another thanks for solving a long standing minor mystery for me.

Most of the French are actually Der Kriegspielers rather than Hinton Hunts, gamertom, but are none the worse for that.

It takes me back to my earliest wargame experiences, including the ping pong table!

I spied some Britains hedges too!

Wellington Man16 Jan 2017 10:25 a.m. PST

Well spotted Cyrus! I forgot about them. I can't remember where the fluffy trees came from, but they had a retro feel to them so I couldn't leave them out.
