Over the years, how many times have you rebased an "army" worth of figures?

Personal logo miniMo Supporting Member of TMP13 Jan 2017 10:02 p.m. PST

Matched pair of big armies, 1.5 times each — British & French Napoleonics. Eventually I'll get around to finishing up my final rebasing on my own darn preferred base sizes and just use those in whatever rules.

Dan 05513 Jan 2017 10:07 p.m. PST

Too many.

Titchmonster13 Jan 2017 10:19 p.m. PST

I'm with Dan too many.

Wulfgar13 Jan 2017 10:28 p.m. PST

Several. Never again.

My earlier WRG Ancients armies were based so I could "make change" when casualties arose. I later rebased them into the now familiar "element" basing scheme.

And I have recently enumerated the sad story of my AWI armies and my quest for a better scheme than the impossibly crowded scheme for 1776.

Brian Smaller13 Jan 2017 11:36 p.m. PST

Two. And will be rebasing my War of 1812 yanks soon too.

Personal logo Wolfshanza Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 12:22 a.m. PST

Yep, too many ! That's why I base individually on 3/4X3/4 inch metal bases, now. That's for 25/28 mm. Use magnetic trays for the rules basing.

Personal logo Doctor X Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 12:25 a.m. PST

Once

Green Tiger14 Jan 2017 12:38 a.m. PST

Two

Khusrau14 Jan 2017 2:20 a.m. PST

never an entire army. I learned the hard way that ply, PVA and sand are friends to Mr Rebasing. Polyfilla, card bases etc are not.

Redcurrant14 Jan 2017 2:29 a.m. PST

Based and rebased my ancients from WRG 6th to elements.

Based, rebased, and rebased again my Napoleonics.

CATenWolde14 Jan 2017 2:41 a.m. PST

I've rebased twice (or, rather, once and one in progress), with mixed results.

I rebased my 15mm Napoleonics from more flexible, smaller bases to larger 40mm bases, and regretted it. However, I ended up selling them.

I'm rebasing my 10mm Zulu War the opposite way; from larger 40mm bases to more flexible, magnetized 20mm bases so I can use sabots if needed – no downside!

I've also made sure that my son starts his first collection (28mm Romans versus barbarians) with the most flexible system possible – individual figure basing, on trays.

All but one.

Far, far too many.

Once, won't do it again.

None, plus or minus two.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 6:12 a.m. PST

Once. Never again.

Lucius14 Jan 2017 6:35 a.m. PST

All of mine. And I like the results so much that I actually ENJOY it.

Jozis Tin Man14 Jan 2017 6:47 a.m. PST

Once. When FOW 1.0 came out I rebased my 15mm WW2 from 30mm squares. Never rebased again.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 6:48 a.m. PST

None, but my SYW armies are on cardboard and will need to be rebased as it's coming apart.

Florida Tory14 Jan 2017 6:51 a.m. PST

Whenever I buy an already based unit with a nice paint job that needs rebasing. frown

Several, from 6mm to 28mm. Mostly from Empire to Age of Eagles. Changed stand types/materials for my WW-II and Cold War figures 2-3 times too.

Dagwood14 Jan 2017 7:28 a.m. PST

Units yes, armies no.

Mostly for WRG base size changes for regular LMI, from 20mm to 15mm and back again, but also to change Gauls to Galatians and back again.

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 8:33 a.m. PST

Never did.

Rich Bliss14 Jan 2017 8:39 a.m. PST

I've rebased my NWF stuff twice. From massed to single and back to massed.

I've also rebased my 15mm Renaissance once, and am now considering selling it to avoid rebasing again.

Personal logo The Nigerian Lead Minister Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 10:34 a.m. PST

None. I adjust rules to my bases.

Timmo uk14 Jan 2017 10:40 a.m. PST

I've rebased two collections several times over a good many decades but I will never do so again. In one instance I'm right back where I started off.

IronDuke596 Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 10:45 a.m. PST

None.

My 28mm figures are individually based on 20x 20mm metal bases so that they fit any sized unit and formation magnetic base. This allows my figures to be adaptable to any rule set, plus it makes it easy to re roll for a skirmish game.

21eRegt14 Jan 2017 11:18 a.m. PST

Once, never again.

cabin4clw14 Jan 2017 12:31 p.m. PST

Too many times.

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 1:55 p.m. PST

Maybe 2 or 3, if you count a company or a platoon as an army.

Striker14 Jan 2017 2:41 p.m. PST

None and won't do it.

mckrok Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 4:18 p.m. PST

I've rebased a few armies for my convenience (single figure stands can be a pain to move when you're playing with hundreds of figures) and improved appearance (add flocking). I won't rebase figures to use in a 'different' rule set.

i use epoxy to affix y figures… no chance of rebasing.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH !!!!

14th NJ Vol14 Jan 2017 5:06 p.m. PST

Napoleonic army based for Empire, rebased for Age of Eagles, rebased for a home brew set of rules. 1990 through 2012.

Personal logo T Callahan Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2017 9:25 p.m. PST

Rebased my Napoleonic armies twice.

Codsticker14 Jan 2017 10:23 p.m. PST

Same as Extra Crispy.

Cerdic15 Jan 2017 3:49 a.m. PST

Once. I am NOT doing it again….

14Bore15 Jan 2017 4:57 a.m. PST

Once, and I'm to far gone to ever do it again.

Ten Fingered Jack15 Jan 2017 2:07 p.m. PST

I started rebasing a Late Roman army this very morning.

coopman15 Jan 2017 5:00 p.m. PST

WAY too many.

Forager15 Jan 2017 11:06 p.m. PST

Just one. Not that big of a deal to me.

Syrinx016 Jan 2017 8:12 p.m. PST

Can't imaging rebasing an army. A few command figures but never an army.

The Last Conformist21 Jan 2017 4:18 a.m. PST

Never actually changed the bases on a whole army, but once I removed the static from one army's bases, repainted them, and put on new static grass. This took way too much time already.

pbishop1207 Feb 2017 6:21 p.m. PST

Rebased about 1000 figures for General de Brigade. What a menace. I was pleased with the results, but not the labor.

Personal logo piper909 Supporting Member of TMP13 Feb 2017 9:51 p.m. PST

Yeah, absolutely "too many."

If I had to pick a number, I'd say nearly a dozen, some multiple times.

daler240D15 Feb 2017 12:51 p.m. PST

Never and never will. Life is too short and I am smarter than that. Rules that INSIST on certain basing are for unimaginative people and are probably written by unimaginitive people.

11th ACR20 Feb 2017 8:15 p.m. PST

All of them at least once some three times!
