Went looking for a cloth for naval in local fabric ship (rather than big hobby chain) .

Woman was very helpful, and I looked at a number of cloths. In the end she found dark blue leatherette- Looks fantastic. It has a sheen on it, so reflects the light, and the cracked effect for the fake leather gives impression of waves/ocean in motion. Plus it lies flat easier, and a hairdryer can be used to warm it so it can be flattened.

Bought 2 meters (6ft 6") at £8.25 GBP meter. 54 inches (yes I know!) wide.

You can probably add more depth by dry-brushing some areas in white, some green, some another shade of blue. Great find!

Looks good! And a good price, to boot.

And you can put your pint on it. ;)

Good tip. Better than blue cloth.

Beers for that game included 'Sea Fury' and 'Broadside'! (The Broadside is in my glass- nearest the camera.)

This needs to be mentioned at least twice!

"And you can put your pint on it."

Being leatherette it I'd wipe clean. I do have a mat (with CWRW DAD on) but my handle doesn't fit on it, only straights.

I wrote a campaign for WMA War of the Roses a few years ago. Rule number 1 was 'open a beer.' throughout the evening we will invoke various subclauses…

That looks excellent!
