So I'm starting up BFG for the first time since the game came out. I'm curious as to what book or resources I will need for just the imperial ship stats as I plan on only doing 30k marine v marine battles. Am I okay with just the basic rule book or do I need one of the expansions? Thanks. Danny |

Do be sure to use the 2007 FAQ rules. There's been a lot of debate about what ships were available at the time of the Heresy. What's known is that the ships that are now Chaos were at least the primary Imperial Navy designs of the time. |

Ahhh. Interesting. Well that complicates things, lol. Ok, I'll look for that. Thanks. I'm sure with my luck as soon as I buy up some models they will just release a new version anyway, lol. |

Quick followup question for those familiar with the 30k fluff. Would Marine Strike Cruisers and Battle Barges carry just Thunderhawks or would they additionally carry strike fighters and bombers? I know FW makes a strike fighter for this period so it would seem reasonable but the bomber seems a little more iffy. Thanks again. |

They would certainly carry Stormbirds and I believe they would carry strike fighters and possibly bombers. In one of the stories in Shadows of Treachery one of the Night Lords cruisers has strike fighters piloted by humans, the lead pilot is a female. |

No, bombers would definitely be available. They're pretty basic technology--Thunderhawks are definitely more advanced, which is part of why they're rare. |
