Well, we truly live in a golden age – I had an e-mail promo from Shapeways in my inbox this morning telling me someone was making roller coasters in small scales:

Now they're in 1/1200 and my self-proclaimed scale for giant monster gaming is 1/600, but I stretch that a bit already with some of my landmarks, so one of these might fit in too. Since I need some other specialized buildings that I can't easily scratchbuild (looking at you, ferris wheel), and will need to ask one of the train guys Shapeways to re-scale a Z-scale Ferris wheel anyway, I may ask if this roller coaster maker can re-scale one of the smaller ones to 1/600 and then make it in cheaper WSF to balance out the cost of a bigger physical model. May ask for an old school roller coaster too.

I've always wanted an amusement park for the big boys to trash, but was stuck on how I'd do it. Now I know.

I've had good luck sending messages to Shapeways designers to ask if they could please offer models in a different scale.

Yes, I've had that as well from the WWI aircraft guys re-scaling 1/144 to 1/288 for me, or 1/300 to 1/600. Here's hoping!

There is always Faller's amusement park kits in HO (1/87th) and N scales. link

Not exactly inexpensive but then quality never is!

Great Goodness! These are remarkable, sir! What kind of kaijus do you use with 1/600? Gashapon-sized?

boy wundyr x15 Jan 2017 4:13 p.m. PST

Yes, the 3" gashapons, gives a monster height of 150' which is bang on for the original Godzilla. Some use the 6 or 8" figures and 6mm infantry but I've gone for volume, think I'm at about 40 monsters now. 2mm works ok too.
