Two units of black militia fought for Andy Jackson at the battles of New Orleans. They were locals from New Orleans.

I remember reading years ago an account of a run away slave who had enlisted in the regular US Army during the War of 1812. He was serving a Regular infantry regiment. So it would appear that at that time the US Regulars were integrated.
