Gents,

agrabbagofgames is back with the first of 2017 posts.

This one sees us heading up country Ethiopia-Eritrea in 1875 by the Egyptian Khedive's forces on a bit of imperialist expansionism – Egyptian style..in this case..a ridge too far…

Rules were Rifles & Spears and a top game had by all…lots of pics to see. Plus a bit of a review of the terrain mat by Tiny Wargames…very nice mat.

Hope you can check it out…

Nice read, Thanks.

Where'd you get the map? I know of Arendup's Expedition along w/Loring et al, but I could not find a biblio of the book(s) you sourced for your info.

Hi Andrew,

Check out "KHEDIVE ISMAIL'S ARMY"
John P. Dunn

Excellent stuff.

The map is from the old "Abyssinian Campaign" produced by the British War Office for the WW2 campaign…an excellent book with superb pictures in it for a feel for the ground…what ground!

Cheers

Happy W

PS I edited the map so it expands to a higher res – worth a look ;-)

Thanks Happy…I knew I had seen that map elsewhere.

I'll check out the book too!

Great AAR! The game cloth looks really good. From what did you make the mountain defile? It's a great looking piece. Hope read more like this.

The "mountain defile" was an aquarium piece picked up at my local pet store…just one of those happy instances of a non gaming terrain piece being perfectly suited to the table.

Is the name of the manufacturer on the bottom of either piece of the defile? I'd love to get a set.

"Is the name of the manufacturer on the bottom of either piece of the defile"

Unfortunately no.

I'll endeavor to swing by the shop I got them from next week and see the labelling…shall report back.
