Just watched this on TV. Ok so the story maybe a bit hackneyed and you have to ignore things like the "German" Saracen APC, but seeing real footage of Mosquitos and hear the sound of real Merlin engines is worth it. I guess in the age of CGI we won't see many films like this again. Oh and Maria Perschy makes a very attractive leading lady! |

I like it. As a kid, my big complaint was not enough flying and fighting, go figure. |

The Mossies are great, the rest………………….. |

One of my favorite movies; worth it entirely for the aerial footage. |

This was a disappointment. It was my most favourite film, a long, long time ago, it seems, in a galaxy far, far away…. Those final kamakazi scenes….. Well, they burnt my eyes out, I cannot unsee them…those models crashing into paper mache cliffs- like a scene from Thunderbirds, only worse… Like seeing chaffees or T34 posing as Tiger tanks. (Just kidding) |

For all its flaws, quite a thrilling soundtrack! |

As much as I loved it, the Dam Busters is my favourite. If you truly love the sound of merlin engines, let it be four in concert. (Only because there is no movie about a hercules engined Halifax.) |

An entertaining movie, worth watching. A pity they don't have movies on some of the real Mossie attacks, which can be equally as thrilling. |

@ dBerczerk I saw a documentary once about the bloke who wrote that soundtrack music. Apparently he accepted the job and was really up against a deadline, with no ideas for the signature tune, so he sorta desperately thought, well, what's this movie called again? 633 Squadron? OK, what about…. 1-2-3-4-6 1-2-3, 1-2-3 because that's 6,3,3…and thus was the 633 Squadron riff born…. |

4th Cuirassier -- Thank you for that anecdote -- how interesting! Necessity really is the mother of invention. |

That would be the great Ron Goodwin. There's a film called Attack on the Iron Coast with Loyd Bridges that uses much of the 633 Squadron soundtrack. This is because Oakmont made it (and others) off the back of 633 and on the cheap! Still, the closest thing to a Commando book on film, it has Mosquitos and the Hun gets a pasting. What's not to like? |

4th Cuirassier- Thanks for that. As they say, inspiration is where you find it. As for the movie.. Forgettable plot, cardboard acting, and sad direction but a good soundtrack and some killer flying scenes. |
