This week, I completed my basic 4-point army for SAGA (29 models.)
I also got colors blocked and shading wash applied to the next 2 points of the same army (8 models.) And, I began prep work on another 24 models of optional troops. Ideally, I would have finished those 8 models and completed the prep work on the other 24, but instead I packed them up for moving. I will probably not have much chance to do hobby stuff again until maybe Jan. 18th or 19th. |

Progress: Jan. 7th to Jan. 12th, 2017: I haven't made too much hobby progress over the last six (not seven!) days. My big news is that I moved back to Las Vegas temporarily, have wholly hated this city in the short time I have been back, come down a bit sick, but also got to see my son a couple of days (which really made up for the rest of it.) On the hobby front, I have finished the last eight models of my initial SAGA Irish warband, got the parsley on the bases and everthing. In game terms, I have a 6-point army ready to roll. Hopefully I will be able to get a picture of them posted sometime in the next few days. I have also prepped another 24 models to expand the army (12 Levies with slings, 12 Angry Monks) and ordered just a few more models to allow myself extra flexibility in fielding my force (allowing all Hearthguard and Levies to be equipped with javelins.) 2 more points of Irish ready to paint:

Well, it was a bit of a bumper week for me. I got in a game of Lion Rampant using my SAGA Irish last Satyrday with Bashytubits and Mike:
And over the course of the week, I made some good progress on my SAGA Angry Monks and Japanese Type 5 Ke-Nu, both about a third done:
It looks like more gaming tomorrow, and possibly painting every night for the rest of the week. |

January 21st to January 27th, 2017 Ok, my simple offerings for this week are finished units for SAGA, 12 Irish Kerns with slings and 12 Angry Monks.
And last Satyrday I played a game of Lion Rampant with Bashytubits and Mike:

Well well well, I feel like I got a lot more accomplished this week than maybe I actually *did* but who's counting, right? First up, I have five "women and children" that will be part of a unit of javelin-equipped Kerns in my SAGA Irish warband:
And what would an Irish warband be without a Wandering Bard?
I am replacing my Fiannas made from Saxon models with more javelin-armed guys, so I have a few extra Saxon axemen roaming about. A quick look through the extras allowed the start of a new SAGA Anglo-Saxon warband. It's not much to look at yet, but it's progress:
Fast forward 1,000 years, and I have finished painting my Type 4 Ke-Nu for Bolt Action. It is the first model in my Imperial Japanese army. It was 3D printed by Bashytubits:
Today, I played a small game of Lion Rampant, only 12 points but in preparation for the Las Vegas Open's Lion Rampant event tomorrow, which will be a multiplayer game which each participant fielding, you guessed it, 12 points. Mostly I wanted to see how all the rules would work, I was playing to test not to win and I lost pretty soundly:
Not even Super Saiyan Goku the slinger could turn the odds in my favor:
And *this* is why it is important to pay attention to how the colors in your pattern interact with one another… I am waiting for my order from Black Tree Design. There was an error in the restock from England, so it is taking longer than expected. In the meantime, I have finished painting all of the models for my current projects. I have the Saxons waiting, but they are more of a "side" than something I am actively trying to wrap up. Once I finish the Irish, I will be ordering the WWII Japanese. Maybe Saxons after that, or maybe I will go back to working on stuff for DBA. I never expected to be working on two separate historical armies as main projects and have no sci-fi or fantasy even on the premises to be worked on. Strange times, indeed. |

I didn't do much this week. I cancelled trips to Storage to retrieve some projects three times, I finally got down to one of the units today to get some stuff. I assembled my remaining six plastic Saxons earlier in the week, got them basecoated in black but didn't bother with pictures before putting them away. Mostly, I am STILL waiting for my BTD order, just 16 models to finish up my SAGA Irish. The funny thing about my Irish is, that while I can play a reasonably sized SAGA game with them, I haven't done so. I keep playing Lion Rampant with them instead. Yesterday was another Lion Rampant day, Bashytubits and I each played 12 points (as one Retinue, Bashytubits had our leader) against Mike's 24 points. When our side hit the 50% point, we called the game and declared Mike the winner.

This week, lacking any actual miniatures that I wanted to work on, saw me possessed by the papercrafting bug. I finished up a batch of space monsters for my 1/4000 Star Trek stuff, and almost finished the third of four fixed-terrain modular boards for my Egypt-themed Frostgrave games:
And then my order from BTD arrived, and I started working on the last batch of figures for my SAGA Irish warband:
The back row is a new unit of Fiannas, the front row is my new Warlord, his banner dude, and one more Bonnacht to fill out a unit that lost a man in the War band re-organization. |

Progress: February 20th to March 4th, 2017 I missed a week of updating because I did nothing for a week… not a single thing. This week, I have been visiting Madera expecting my granddaughter Sally to be born. 6 days late, 10 lbs. 14 ozs., and a few complications. But she is doing better every day. While we were , I was able to ct with one of the local gaming fauna and acquire some 28mm WWII Japanese infantry for my upcoming Bolt Action platoon. Since I left a nice set of hobby supplies here when I returned to Vegas last time, I have begun prepping them:
