Local stockists.

I have two main chains close to me – Toys'r'them and Smythes. I've always wondered why places like that dont stock anything beyond the odd 1/72 airfix kits.

Younger gamers. Sometimes convention photos look more like the weekly meeting of the "Over 60's"

Tolerance.

Why get upset about, for example:
posts from people whose English is less than perfect (and often at best a second language); or
people who prefer different sorts of game.

More people who are willing to work and support the hobby than snipe at others and give their august opinion. It needs people who will support the efforts of others when they actually DO something and contribute something. Contributing something is NOT giving your or your infantile political slant or a hissy fit about current events. It is writing articles, creating battle reports, publishing magazines, doing stuff for others, for free, supporting clubs and attending conventions and being nice to your fellow gamers. Not tearing them down. Be a mule or a tramp, not a vamp.

Von Trinkenessen05 Jan 2017 3:27 p.m. PST

Completed ranges, there are too many broken promises, too many part ranges that are abandoned by sculptors ( we know who the guilty people are)
Different manufacturers figures that scale up against each other.
Less bigotry, politics and xenophobia on what is meant to be hobby related sites…
Civility we are all wargamers and wargaming is a broad church.

FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree about complete ranges ..rather than 3-4 different manufactors over 10 years to finish a army..using Perrys as an example of completeing ranges ..it's nice to see..i realize money is a factor ..just saying..thanx.

Less carping
Less complaining
Less criticism of the work of others
Less regionalism

In, America, possibly more gaming clubs. At conventions, perhaps more short games.

Booth babes would be nice too. And groupies.

PrivateSnafu05 Jan 2017 7:12 p.m. PST

Pre-paints and a higher quality of finished castings. Poor castings contribute to less painted miniatures.

We need to find a way to bring back game stores. Sure you can buy a whole Necron army for $10 USD from a suffering heroin junkie on ebay….BUT why do you want it? How do you know about it?
Word of mouth, forums like this one or accidently find it on the web.

I went in the place that shall not be said on Christmas eve after a long time out of gaming shops. I forgot what a blast it was to actually shop rather than hit buy now.

But the new wave of shops would need to have good customer service and friendly staff. Too many places got ripped for having staff who were indifferent and rude.

Game stores are not coming back. The economics just don't work. The only stuff that sells well enough really is collectable cards and the like.

I live in Chicago and while we have lots of boardgame stores, miniatures are pretty near impossible to find. My "shop" is an office but there's no way I could afford the rent of a street shop. Unless I ditched the minis and sold boardgames and card games…..

+1 Winston, +1 I say!
All the car and boat shows have scantily clad lovelies draped over them, extolling the virtues of whatever it is they're draped over. We need the same. "Pretties" to lean over the war game tables and tell young men how good it is to handle the French Imperial Guard. How they feel that a man needs a Zulu Impi to be complete. That they really admire a person who can differentiate between a sarissa and a pilum…

Ohhh yeeeeah.

More actual gaming, less talking.

Sometimes it seems as if the majority of wargamers are zen-wargamers. They talk about their planned games and upcoming campaigns all the time, but for some reason, nothing ever materializes.

Von Trinkenessen06 Jan 2017 5:51 a.m. PST

Too true Phil too true.

Swampking06 Jan 2017 6:09 a.m. PST

a) Sense of humor – it's just a hobby, why get upset about metal?

b)less politics (see a) and/or political correctness/SJWs. If you don't like me fielding an army of naked Amazons, hold your tongue like a gentleman.

c) agree with the more completed ranges. However, I would also agree with the 'less' of certain ranges. My goodness, how many 15mm ACW or WW2 ranges are there out there – 50? 100? of each? I agree that variety is necessary but does every manufacturer have to have an ACW range?

Recovered 1AO06 Jan 2017 7:03 a.m. PST

Well, I expect WW2, ACW, and Napoleonic miniatures may sell best and since it is a business (or should be run as one) that bankrolls others ranges. Ditto Fantasy and Science Fiction possibly.

More of standard accepted rules sets for each historical period – too much fragmentation! Ha Ha Ha….yea, right.

Scorpio06 Jan 2017 9:23 a.m. PST

Feminism. In an age where wargaming convention-goers are getting older and older, we need new people to bring into the hobby. And ignoring half the population of potential recruits due to outdated ideas is a terrible idea. If board games and video games can branch out, so can we.

More affordable metal 28mm miniatures. Have any of these companies considered manufacturing their miniatures abroad and passing along the savings to the consumer?
