here is a little preview of some goblins sculpts, coming later this year from Aenor Miniatures ( aenorminiatures.com/en ), there should be enough for a warband or even a small army if the reception is good
I'd be interested to hear from a gamer perspective what kind of weapon options you'd like to see, if you prefer to have the shield cast with the mini or be optionnal, etc… I guess those would be used in skirmish games with small warbands, but you could use them to build regiment as well if you prefer mass battle game let me know what you think! |

Nice sculpts. I like the shields optional also. |

Nice sculpt. Optional shields---the halberd would look even better if there were no shield on the other hand. |

Very evocative. I will buy them either way although the casting process often makes separate shields more realistic in the way they are held but induces a weak glue joint |

Very nice – I like optional shields as well but agree with Mick that shields that are glued on can fall off over time |

I think they have a lot of character; well done. |

thanks for the feedback! I expected a lot of people would prefer optional shields. However I think that with this kind of detailed miniatures separate shields wouldn't fit as well as on more old school minis. You couldn't have handles or straps like on the models above. I don't think I can make those ones have optional shields in a satisfacting way but I'm going in this direction with some new models. I may also do conversion of those with the optional idea in mind. Do you think it would be fine to have some minis in the range with casted shields and some with optional shields? This way you could chose what you want for skirmish games. Do people use shields on goblins in the popular mass battle games? what do you think about some of them holding a weapon with 2 hands like the middle one? I know it's not a good idea for WFB but it may be ok in other game and of course you could just count it as a single hand weapon |

Yes, goblins could/would use shields. There are lots rules out there that aren't WFB. 2 handed weapons too. The pole armed type would not use a shield, but if it were a pike or long spear he might. Clip off the side blade and it is perfectly plausible, but with fantasy I wouldn't get too hung up on it because the pole arm sculpt looks so bloody cruel! |

I'd just cut off the blade and make it a spear – keep the shield – my favourite fig. |

tbh honest the halberd blade is just for the cool factor, I planed to have him along spearmen. Goblins use whatever thay can find and have mismatched equipement ;) I'll leave it that way, if someone want to cut the small blade to make a proper spear it's very easy. my question about shields is not if they could use it, but if players actually use this option. If in some of the most played regimental games the shields are a sub-optimal option then having them optional is more important. For skirmish a few ones with optional shields should be enough? |

I think there are plenty of rules where taking a shield is optimal. SoBH/2HW comes immediately to mind. Figure options based on what just one set of rules use or weight is not an approach I would concern myself over. |
