Big cutlass on the first Front Rank guy. Still, great work!

Wonderful throughout. Does even more to convince me that Front Rank may have the castings, but Perrys finally have the edge, with better anatomy/proportions.

Funny thing, of them all, my favourite is the lowly colonel of Infantry

Beautiful work!
My favourites are the Front Rank curiasser officer his horse is wonderful and the cloaked general on the roan, his cloak has some amazing hues of purple and blue, with pale blue highlights.
I really like the way you highlight boots with grey and a slash of cream.
I wish they were not in pounds, the conversion to Canadian is a killer $50 USD each.

great work, whatever the manufacturer, there you have a keen eye for detail – you could paint the stirup straps crimson as well for officers, which would give a nice definition in contrast to the boots

I know what you mean about the General of Cuirassiers. I missed it the first time, but, if you click on the pictures, just see the magnification you can get. The photography is great and shows every brush stroke……….

I always imagined cuirassier officers with white metal throughout, whether lace or epaulettes, but am intrigued to see this chap with gold throughout.

Hi thanks for the comments. These were fun to paint. The Front Rank figures are lovely castings, lean and crisp. but as you say the anatomy is a bit on the exaggerated side. remind me a little bit of very refined old Brittania Miniatures mounted figures in some ways. Perry are more delicate, and well proportioned, but some castings take a fair bit of cleaning up.

Cuirassier General has Gold lace etc as a general officer, but normal field officer would have silvered.

Posting some more pics soon.

Thanks again.

I now realise, having researched further, that a cuirassier can indeed be seen with gold fittings and look brilliant as a result….he just has to get to general rank.

Quite a unique look!

Would love to see more………
