Hi all

I went for a visit to the Hellenic Maritime Museum at Piraeus. Here are 400 pictures covering a large period.

Very nice! I saved a bunch of the photos for planned projects.

The maritime museum (and the war museum in the center) are lesser known attractions in Athens, but well worth the visit! I'm surprised you didn't include photos of the actual ships in dock at the museum – it's hard to beat having one of the last dreadnaught era warships, a reconstructed classical era bireme, and a WWII destroyer all next to each other!

Thank you that is great.

It is a museum well worth a visit.

On of my regrets about visiting Istanbul was the fact their naval museum was closed and under armed military guard the day I went.

Different Museum. You are referring to the Naval Tradition Park at Faliro. I have visited it, quite a lot of pictures on the blog, click on label "Museums"

The War Museum is well worth a visit. It is a very long time since I was there though….. about 30 years!
