Old… but still interesting to read…

"Everybody plays computer and board games, right? Surely, nobody still plays with miniatures? It may surprise you to know that the miniatures industry has been steadily growing over the years and is enjoying something of a ?Renaissance?. The following article gives you an idea of where the hobby is at today. Those interested in the Napoleonic era, or miniature wargaming in general, please read on to see how things have changed…"

Well, not for US, but we are not the target audience. As a very basic intro to board and computer gamers. it's fine. Never hurts to raise awareness of our niche hobby.

Great article with which to compare present day with.

And I think it is very interesting that when that was written there was a feeling that computer gaming may take over and that wargaming with miniatures would die out. But I'm pleased to say that I believe the exact opposite has happened, if anything, and people have just embraced computer gaming as another aspect of wargaming, another way of playing.

Thanks, that was a very interesting read. Takes me back to my early days in the 1970s when you had to post a cheque off and wait several weeks for the packet to arrive from Minifigs or Hinchcliffe!!

Is this not just written as recently as 2012? Very basic stuff and not really for those who contribute here……..

But a harmless introduction for someone totally new to gaming with figures. Not entirely sure why it is thought necessary though…….very superficial……… with so much now available on line……
