A normal search for post apocalyptic terrain/ pictures shows what it might be like many years/ decades later.. or after a nuclear war.. I'm looking for material that is 6 months or so after waterever disaster happened. More in the beginning of the zombie outbreak and less when humans are on the brink of extinction. (Make sense?) Thanks, Moe |

Or try Chicago, Detroit--Newark a few years ago. Dresden or Berlin about 1946 might work. |

6 months won't see a lot of change. Event driven changes would be broken windows, doors and possibly fires. More possible is trash, weeds and just a general untidiness. One of the drivers for what to change is the nature of the event itself. |

Excellent suggestions all; to robert piepenbrink's I'd add: Google Streetview of Newark, NJ; parts of Philadelphia; Detroit; Buffalo and Rochester NY. |

check out the TV series Life After People that was out a few years ago. The animations weren't amazing but it showed a timeline of how areas would look months then years after humankind ceases to exist completely at once but without any affects on other life. |

Agree with the nature of the event that started things. Also the weeds and grass would grow wild. I also would think trash/garbage would be scattered about as people consume and scavenge to exist. Perhaps a toned down version of the slums as in and around Rio as shown during the olympics. These have been lived in and used hard for years. The time period you seek would be show just the beginning stages but starting out with a little bit better looking environment. |

Look for picks of Chernobyl (not sure of correct spelling). Site has been generally untouched since the failure, so should be more what you are looking for. |

Hmm. Good idea, Vigilant. Also there is a sort of DMZ on Cyprus which has been abandoned since the last--well, most recent--Greek-Turkish war. As regards trash. We don't have real poverty--where you have nothing instead of not having much--in the States or Europe. When you hit absolute poverty you get no trash, because a bit of string or a broken piece of mirror is still more than you have otherwise. So things will depend a LOT on the nature of your catastrophe. |

1974 for Cyprus, an eerie zone but at least it isn't irradiated. |

Just a Google image search of "abandoned streets" comes up with a lot to look at: link |
