I was playing around with my new trenches, so I figured that I would take a few pictures to show them off. I only have four of the tiles molded so far which limits the possible layouts a lot. They do however work nicely I think and it's easy to get a feel of what the system will look like. What do you think, do the crooked trenches look more realistic to you?
These were specifically designed to fit FOW bases and not look unrealistically straight.

They look very nice. The whole problem with FoW "trenches" is that the base has to fit inside them. No matter how nice your trenches look, that constraint means they look nothing like "real" trenches. |

Nicely done. Seelow Heights comes to mind. |

@Winston: You can cheat that a little with some painting effects, but I'd have to play with the design and painting a lot to make it look good. Basically, have a "firing step" on the bottom of the trench that's at close to the same level as the bottom, then paint the firing step a brighter color than the bottom of the trench. @Veteran Sgt: does that mean you're planning on making these for sale? |

Thanks for all of the comments everybody! @ Lion in the Stars Yes I am planning to sell them. I did an article about the concept on my website if you're interested. 18charlie.com |

Are these resin or vacuum-form plastic pieces? I've seen some pretty nice vacuform stuff before, and trench pieces are ideal for the process? In general, I'd be in for a couple 6-foot lengths, eventually. |

They would be perfect for vacuforming, however I don't have the equipment necessary to do that so they are just made of resin.

You could also use the BF WW1 trenches. |

I now have the junctions and gun pits finished so all of the basic pieces are done! Next step is adding bunkers, dugouts, strong points, mortar pits, and whatever else I can think of.

You could also use the BF WW1 trenches. Those look more like log barricades than like trenchworks. These look much better, and are more gameable to boot. |

Here is a few more pictures of the trenches with miniatures in them. I don't have very many miniatures that are appropriately based for being in the trenches, but you can get the idea anyway.

I have a limited number of sets cast up already, but have runout of resin to cast more. At this point I am just working on taking pictures, building up the inventory, and doing the writ up so that they can be added to the store. I do need a few customers who want these early sets and are willing to send me pictures of the finished trenches.
A basic set (in the picture) will give you about 26" of trench (enough to hold 13 medium bases) for $50. USD It gets complicated after that when you start adding junctions and gun pits. Anyone interested? Please understand that these are undetailed tiles (very easy to add detail yourself). You can make them look just like mine if you want or go in a completely different direction if you want. |
