I show several OOBs having 5 Georgia regiments. But can't find a reference for the 7th GA. Were they present at Gettysburg?

According to the OOB below, the 7th GA was present (along with the 8th GA, 9th GA, 11th GA and 59th GA).

Nice thing about this OOB is that it includes the commanders and unit strengths.

The 7th & 8th Georgia of Anderson's Brigade, squared off in Pitzer's Woods with the 1st USSS and the 3rd Maine Infantry sometime after 12noon on 2 July, 1863.

Jonathon Newcombe, of Co. A, 3rdMine,mentions them as the 3rd had faced them during the 7-day's battles the previous year. he says that the 3rd Maine men recognized their colors.

@Tkindred,

Interesting that after their fight in Pitzer woods, they don't show up in the brigades fight later in the day thru the wheatfield. Yet the 8th GA did. Anyone know their losses in that fight with the 1st USSS? Did they take such a pounding as to be unavailable for the push around the Federal Flank?

@Tkindred and others,

I recalled that it was Andersons from III Corp (AP Hill's Corps) that skirmished with Berdens 1st USSS but that was later in the day 1600ish. Can you site where this engagement occurred with I Corps (ANV) Anderson's Brigade, specifically 7th & 8th GA and 1st USSS?

The 7th GA was not with the rest of the Brigade in the attack on the Wheatfield having been detached to help guard the flank along the Emmitsburg Rd., as per John Imhof's "Gettysburg Day 2 A Study in Maps" pg 19

Mea Culpa, folks.I pulled out Jonathon Newcombe's comments and he was referring to the 10th & 11th Alabama regiments at Pitzer's Woods. He referred (again) to recognizing the flag of the 11th Alabama from the previous year, when the 3rd Maine had faced them on the peninsula.

I posted in haste, remembering the engagement, but getting the CS regiments wrong, and for that I apologize.

I have at least 5 books stating that they were there. One states the on July 2 They were assigned to the right flak to protect against Cav. and on July 3rd the rejoined the Bgd and the 7th,8th and 9th GA Fought Kilpatricks troops. The 7th Had 377 Men and loss of 5 killed , 10 wounded 6 missing.

It was part of R. H. Anderson's division that fought the USSS and 3rd ME on 2 July, not G. T. Anderson's brigade. IIRC, it was Wilcox's Brigade.
