Driving home after rewatching Rogue One I hear this on local radio. I had to check the BBC news website, but unfortunately it was true.

Like most young boys I fell in love with Carrie Fisher's portrayal of Princess Leia when we first saw her in Star Wars. Beautiful, strong, resourceful, bright, spark of humour.

As Lor San Tekka said, she will always be royalty to me.

:( :(

RIP Carrie Fisher.

She was the only celebrity I was ever truly "in love" with (in as much as one can know being in love before puberty.) She was a big part of changing my world when I was 7 years old and saw Star Wars. Through my adulthood, I always read the news stories involving her when I saw them. When I heard the original cast had signed on for the new Star Wars movies, I was excited mostly about Carrie Fisher reprising her role as Princess Leia.

Alliance flags at half mast…

I felt a tremble in the Force…

I have been watching Star Wars from episode 1 this holiday as a treat, and was watching 'The Empire Strikes Back' when the news broke.
I will remember her as Princess Leia always.

+1 "She will always be royalty to me"

Mako1127 Dec 2016 2:35 p.m. PST

A pity.

Gone far too early.

Another gone far too soon.

Very sad, caught in a bad situation at a bad time. But will never be forgotten.

JMcCarroll27 Dec 2016 3:53 p.m. PST

Maybe they should have killed her off, rather than Harrison Ford. RIP Princess!

Tgunner27 Dec 2016 3:55 p.m. PST

No doubt. A very sad thing. She will be missed.

MacrossMartin27 Dec 2016 5:09 p.m. PST

She made an eight-year-old Martin re-assess his entire perspective on girls, and the fact that they can be as tough as boys.

Precious few female role-models like that in the late 70's.

A cultural icon, and a remarkable survivor, to be truly missed.

Rogue 1 **Spoiler**

I watched Rogue 1 yesterday for the first time and that last scene when she turns around made me cry due to the context of her health. She was the first girl I ever fancied after watching the original in cinema.

Rest in peace Carrie. May the Lord Be With You

RIP.

Fired up the original Star Wars after hearing the news.

In addition to the sadness of her passing I wonder what this will do to the coming Star Wars movies. Her relationship to her son has to have been planned as a part of it.

Thought it a fitting tribute in my own way to go watch Rogue One in light of her passing. I had purposely avoided spoilers and was taken aback by her (CGI) cameo! Tears welled.

Saw Rogue One today. Fitting end with Leia. Disney Star Wars future clouded it is.

All deaths are equal, but some of them touch us more deeply. Yesterday, when I read the news -my son sent me a whatsapp- I couldn't stop myself and cried. Sit tibi terra levis.

She was to have a large and significant role in episode 9. Shame we'll never see her culminating performance. She was the only good spot in episode 7 IMO. I was so looking forward to seeing her in April at Star Wars Celebration. Sigh. So sad.

You said it,brother.

Vigilant28 Dec 2016 12:05 p.m. PST

Very sad. Local opinion is that it is my jinx. The week before I saw Status Quo live, days later Rick Parfitt died. I was watching Rogue 1 when she had the heart attack and had commented that soon we wouldn't need real actors anymore! Another of my movie heroes gone.

Ghostrunner28 Dec 2016 8:08 p.m. PST

And her mother passes a day later. Doubly tragic.

Stealth100029 Dec 2016 2:41 a.m. PST

She was a real crush for me when I was 11 back in 1977. Sad to see her pass. She will be missed. And her poor mum going too. Sad day.

Same here and God so true.
I was 15 when "Star Wars" was released in '77. From the moment I heard of her passing, Ive had a 'need' to watch it again, doing that as I write this.

IMHO.. she is now with The Source of "The Force", she will Always be Princess Leia to me.

The Ultimate shock / irnony, her mom, Debbie Reynolds would die the next day.
Just too much to believe. Both beautiful, talented and UNforgetable. Thank You ladies..

Yes, another sad loss of one of our genre heroes. Gone far too soon. Condolences to her family and friends for her and her mother Debbie Reynolds. :( :(

She was good in other stuff too, Blues Brothers for example. And if you haven't see it, try and watch video of her one woman show, telling it as it was and still making you smile despite the hardships she had been thru. Remarkable woman.

As others have been heard to say all year, 2016 seems to have been an especially tough year for losing real celebrities (Bowie, Prince, Ali, Gene Wilder amongst others) as well as other bad news (Syria, leaving the EU, Trump getting elected!)
