Now I will state right at the begining that this is a LONG post, so if you just want some fairly pretty pictures then by all means have a quick look and enjoy but I did want to give a thorough die roll by die roll of the actual mechanics of these rules. If that's what your after then be prepared it may take you a while but at the end you should have a pretty good idea of how this set of rules plays out.

I would highly recomend Pickett's Charge as a rule set for this period, I hope you find the report useful.

Nice write up and explanation. We've played a dozen games so far and love them.

idontbelieveit27 Dec 2016 6:34 p.m. PST

Thanks for putting the effort in to write that up!

Thanks lads, it was a bit of an effort but well worth it. A great set of rules.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. I have these rules, but have yet to read / play them. There seems to be a lot of die rolling, but from your report, it doesn't seem to hold up the game, which would be my main concern.

Looking forward to giving them a run now!

Sheepman196128 Dec 2016 4:48 a.m. PST

Do it Langobard, the rules flow well and 'feel' right, if you know what I mean.

Thank you for the report. I am considering getting these rules. This is just the sort of report I want, showing how all the mechanics work in practice, when I am trying to evaluate rules.

Glad you felt it was worth the effort.

Does anyone in the U.S. sell Pickett's Charge?

I appreciate your efforts, these are indeed the battle reports that I like the most when considering new rules. I've already picked up PC and had a game, but I found this very helpful anyway. well DONE!

where did you get or how did you make those markers??!!

if there are any real drawbacks to these rules it's the amount of markers. causalty markers for each regiment along with 3 possible status markers, along with 2 possible status markers for each brigade.

Sheepman196130 Dec 2016 10:53 a.m. PST

Thanks for the comments Stewart, there are a few markers but if done subtly they look fine. Empires at War in the UK does markers for this, Mick is a good lad and will change the number or type to any you want, he does a lot of other stuff as well.
