I turn once again to the knowledge bank of TMP. Where the Sudanese units of the Battle of Omdurman dressed in Khaki uniforms with fez or still in brown jerseys? Thank you in advance. Cheers |

I believe they were still wearing their brown jerseys. Emir Mahmud after Atbara with his captors, soldiers of the 10th Sudanese Regiment.

This has been bugging me for ages and I can't seem to get a clear answer. There seems to be a warmers tendency to paint Sudanese regiments of the Egyptian Army in brown, but uniform references seem to indicate blue and brown for the Egyptians (white and blue early uniforms for summer and winter respectively for the Egyptians). Can anyone clarify this? Cheers, Chris |

The photo above is of Sudanese troops, but could that be a blue jersey? |

Plate D in the Osprey Men at Arms 59 – The Sudan Campaigns 1881-1898 shows a brown jersey. link |

That's the same book that shows a Beja tribesman in draws with coloured patches. |

The Soldier and Savage articles (online) has pretty good uniform info and history. Think you can see it thru the Perry site, also. |

The Soldier and Savage articles have Egyptians in brown and Sudanese in blue jerseys. Confusing. link Looks like Osprey got it wrong. |

From all the research I've done over the years on the Sudan, for late war it is Sudanese in blue Jerseys and Egyptians in brown. Though I don't know of any mfgrs who actually make late war Egyptians in jerseys. Cheers, JB |
