With a growing assortment of LW Battle of the Bulge Germans, we tried the Foy scenario. The 101st was up to its normal heroics, but time was not on their side.

Thanks for the pics and narrative. Would it have helped if the Americans carried flame throwers? Then again, did the list available allow you to take flame throwers as an option? Personally I enjoy, on occasion, an unbalanced game, it can make for some interesting situations. Thanks again. |

I looked at the army lists and they don't show any US flamethrowers available for the 101st in the Ardennes. That is not to say they didn't have them, just that they were not on the army list. I don't mind an unbalanced game, but the expectation was that it had a decent chance for either player to win, and that doesn't appear to be the case. I may have missed something, but I am not sure what . . . Perhaps too much schnapps? |

Ill fix it historically for you if you are into that. I am doing this on vacation and dont have my references next to me. I can send them when I get home. The north (top of map) and west edges of the board should have trees. US should have 2 weakened companies, tank destroyers (2-4 i think) and 50 cals. I think the americans kept a company in reserve as well. Germans should have about the same, 88mm gun(s?) and 3 panzer IVs. Panzer IVS were there but did not engage in battle. they may have been out of ammo or ordered elsewhere as they pulled out. I dont know about artillery |

Sure, that would be nice. The books that I have and various sources on the internet show the 11th Armored Division in the vicinity that may have helped out. Panzer Lehr was also not far away and may have counterattacked shortly after the Americans took Foy, which may be the theme of the next encounter. Thanks. |

Simo Hayha, There are some good bits on your links. I saw some of them when preparing for the scenario. The Google Map program was also a help. Thanks. |
