Hello, I'd like to paint a set of new figures for my creche next year. I just cannot seem to find what I am looking for, if they are available…

They should be around 3 inches tall, be made of resin and well detailed, and of course comprise the classical group (the Holy Family, the shepherds, the ox and the donkey, the Mage Kings, angels)

Thanks in advance, and to all of you, happy holidays and a merry Christmas!

The best is Thunderbolt Mountain's Holy Family. There are only 3 pieces to date, but Mr. Meier has posted some great pictures on this forum of future models that will be released some day.

I don't see them on his Web site any more, but they aren't that hard to track down.

I was hoping you were going to solicit suggestions for creating a nativity scene from existing ranges; like napoleonic aides-de-camp for the 3 wise men.

The horizons are much wider if you go ceramic.

Can't think of the name of it – company in Italy has a very nice set, too.

Thanks for the help, gentlemen.

@Lucius These seem awesome, but they seem to have been a limited run and are OOP now. No luck on ebay as well…

@Virtualscratchbuilder
I'd thought of it, but have never painted ceramic, as I find them somewhat less crisp in detail. How does acrylic paint handle on it?

@Sundance could be, hopefully someone would know its name?

I thought they had some expansions to this to add the wise men, shepherds, etc.

Magister Militum does a 28mm set. As a family project, my girls and I did it one year. We had a great time, and I still put it out every year.

Not quite Thunderbolt or Reaper quality, but much more complete. And available! Lead, not resin.

Acrylic is all I use – no primer needed. You can make up a lot of the detail with good shading.

Fantastic advice, thanks everyone!
I think I will start with the Magister Militum set, and later swap the Holy Family by Reaper, if the 2 brands are compatible.
