I am thinking of making this my large battle ancients wargames rules. I have read the various battle reports, are they any other players that can comment on the game and rules? lurkio.co.uk/blog/archives/2864 Are there players in Sydney Australia? link |

While this doesn't cover the "who's playing" part of your question, the Meeples & Miniatures podcast interviewed the author recently in episode 181 meeplesandminiatures.co.uk |

Our club Ancient players have all switched to this set of rules. Really fast moving game but requires more intense decision making than DBMM, Field of Glory etc. Lots of variety in weaponry, tactics etc. Skirmish combat is bloody and quick with skirmishers being pushed back by advancing heavier groups thus stopping them unrealistically holding up battle troops too much. Good fun too with many games ending with both sides on a knife edge. |

We have played a few games, starting small (Which is difficult for me!) and have enjoyed them, looking forwards to bigger games in 2017, Tally Ho! |

I wasn't sure about MeG at first but it has grown on me. Players. Have to make decisions by often have Li nm limited options. We're playing them regularly and, having sold most if my ancient stuff, I'm back to buying and painting again in earnest. |

Probably worth checking with the Sydney clubs, and also asking on the MeG forum as well as here as to whether there are many players as yet in Australia who have bought the rules. I believe it's a direct sales operation so any sets over there would need to have been bought direct from the UK, so someone may know an exact figure for AUS sales so far. |

I want to try but hsving read the rules it looks really cumbersome (DBM on acid). However how easy is it for a normal gamer to pick up (a normal gamer who doesn't like DBM or FOG)? |

If you don't like DBM or FOG – what features are you looking for in a rule set? Like most rules, it is easiest to pick up by having someone show you. There is plenty of guidance including a Youtube video on how to play the game. |

I suppose I'm looking for a more historically accurate sword and spear – I love the S&S rules but the unit types are a bit vanilla and the block representation is a bit too basic. Ill check out the tutorials! |

Any chance of posting a link to the Youtube video? I haven't been able to find anything. |
