Hello curious what others thought. I need Sudanese infantry painted for a colonial game soon, but currently all I have is a bunch of unpainted Egyptian infantry. Could I paint the Egyptian infantry up as Sudanese infantry or is there to much of a difference? I have 15mm ease and Blue moon figures right now.

"The army said Thursday it had retaken full control of Syria's devastated second city Aleppo, scoring its biggest victory against opposition forces since the civil war erupted in 2011.

The announcement came after a landmark evacuation deal that ended a ferocious month-long offensive waged on east Aleppo by government forces and allied militia.

The operation climaxed a battle that lasted nearly four and a half years, and transformed the city into a worldwide symbol of bloodshed and devastation.

Thousands of inhabitants in the western part of the city -- which had remained under the regime's control throughout the conflict -- took to the streets, chanting slogans and shouting their jubilation despite extreme cold…"

It will be interesting to see what happens next, and where the rebels go to try to regroup.

Hey, OSL2000,
Egyptians are usually shown in blue or white tunics with a row of shiny buttons and shoulder straps. Sudanese wear a pull over jersey instead of the tunic, so have no buttons or shoulder straps, and there isn't a line where one side of the tunic overlaps the other. Other than that, the differences are in color and a paint conversion would probably work for 15mm.

We now return you to the tragedy in Aleppo.

There are photographs of Sudanese wearing khaki tunics similar to the Egyptians. So long as the Egyptian uniform is the late type with puttees rather than gaiters you can use it to represent Sudanese.

Depend on the time period.

My early war Egyptians are in all white with my Sudanese in blue tunics with white pants.

I expect Homs and Idlib will be the next targets To clean up.

Thanks for the clarification.

Oddly, when you see Sudanese troops illustrated, they're always from the re-conquest period, in blue jerseys, a time when Egyptian infantry were wearing brown jerseys. During the early Sudan campaigns they would have worn white like the rest of the Egyptian army.
