Andeas I'm far from an expert on the subject but I believe that there are no firm records as to what flags were carried by Hanoverian Battalions during the 100 days. Many wargaming offerings are conjectural. However, i'm sure there are people on the forum who will be able to provide much more guidance than me on the subject. J |

The only Hanoverian Flags known for sure are Hoya and Calenberg and two of the Lanwehr Bns. There are a number of other known designs, but it isn't known which unit carried what. This old discussion has a few real flag pics and pages from an article in a German publication: TMP link GMB # HA03 is probably the last flag pictured in the link which is supposed to be a Feldbn. flag. The only thing the article says about Bremen is "The city of Stade gave this battalion a flag." The flag designs are fairly simple, were made by the towns/cities the units were from and some had the Hanoverian white horse or the City emblem as a common element. And the flag colour doesn't seem to be based on the unit facing colour. Bremen had a white key on a red shield as emblem -like this: link and on my unit's flag I've used this on one side and the white horse on a red circle on the other all on a white ground. Something like this:
but I didn't include the cyphers and the crowns on my version. Cliff |
