I order a Mat a month or so ago and it arrived in about 4 weeks time.

Very hit or miss it seems.

I am ordering custom 10 x 6 desert, and snow mats.

I have nice 2 sets of the asphalt roads, and a nice European fields mat, for aircraft games….

Good quality stuff. I recommend it.

I'm saving up for the European fields, and strongly suspect that nothing else will work as well in my scale.

But can anyone tell me how well Hotz mats will drape over terrain contours placed underneath them? Or with another fabric acting as an intermediate layer.

They will drape quite well. I have placed terrain under them several times with no problems.

Put in an order about the same time as ScoutJock and got mine two weeks ago. Nothing special just a plain green mat.

I heard back from Eric after a second request for an update email. His production was slowed by some health issues so I wished him a complete recovery and am patiently waiting for my merch.

I'm tempted to get another Hotz mat (field pattern). I haven't ordered from Hotz for years (and had no problem then).

Anyone have recent experience (since the last date on this thread, mid June?).

I finally received my merch including some 6mm fields in mid July, basically three months from order to receipt. They look great and Eric did apologize for the delay citing health and production issues.

Is Hotz Mats still in business? I have been waiting 10 months for the mats I paid for and when I went to follow up with him (again) today by email I received an email bounce back. Any insights?

Thats a good question. I had a back and forth with him by email and then he went "dark" on me. I was going to just order some things and wait until they came until I saw your post.

Are his products all that and a bag of dice?

I've ordered a few times from Hotz mats and liked each item I received. The latest were the farm fields. When you order just expect to wait 1 or 2 months.

Yes, but MiniPainterMatt above has perhaps still not received his wares after almost a year. The poor devil.

It sounds a bit like Canadian roulette.

It's now been over 13 months and no mats. I have not had an update from him since April despite my periodic requests. I'm not sure what's going on.

Not to profit off of your disappointing experience but I never got responses to my emails either and I am glad I never ordered from this company.

If it's any consolation, your experience acts as a counterweight for all the part-time merchants who want full payment ahead of time.

Recently, a figure painter asked me for 100% up front on a large order on the basis that it was a first time transaction between us. As if, I the customer were the only one capable of pulling a fast one. I know of no greater opportunity for wargames tragedy than to supply a painter you do not know, figures and full payment up front.

Wish I had seen this post earlier. Just ordered and tried to get confirmation that the order was received. No response yet after 1 week.

Well, hopefully you're young and in good health. What's 13-18 months in grand scheme of things in exchange for legendary terrain?

If the guy is in that bad a shape that he cannot respond to paying customers, and produce product in a timely manner, maybe he ought to close the shop until such time as he can. This is not a recent thing; he's been pulling that crap for years now and there are always fanbois coming out of the woodwork defending shoddy customer service and lack of communication.

You are very much right in your statement. A company is either in business or it isn't. Yes, things happen and things come up that are unforeseen but the wait times described here are beyond absurd. Thankfully I ordered from CigarBox Battle Mats and have 5 of their products with which I am very pleased.

Sent Eric an order for some fields and roads, placed a similar order with a competitor to see how it goes.

Here's to hoping they both come through…

He owes me a mat. Paid for, never responded. Finally got in contact, never sent mat. Almost 5 years ago, wrote him off as a guy way over his head with no customer service.

Yes I'm straddling the bravery/stupidity line, but his website appears to be updated so here's to hoping I'm not throwing my money away.

I really do like his stuff and want more of it.

OK, its been 6 weeks – crosses fingers…

In all my dealings Eric has been faultless. His email communication is good and delivery prompt. I recommend his products (he has delivered to me in the UK two mats and a selection of fields at various times)

Ordered $81 USD of items from him in December 2018. After a few emails he responded in March 2019. Said he thought the items were in stock. Two follow up emails to see if they shipped resulted in zero responses. As on 18 April 2019 it will have been exactly four months since my order. I got one response in that time. I still await my items, but not sure how long I will wait before filing a complaint.

Tankette, you probably ought to just initiate a chargeback with your credit card before you run out of time to do so (there is usually a time limit). Doubt you'll see your merchandise.
