I've carried it in my store for a couple years. It doesn't really sell well.
Personally, I like a lot of what Prodos has done with it but the cards tend to bog play down too much. I think the second edition fixes a lot of issues but I haven't had a chance to play it. I have run the new rpg quite a bit. Too newfangled for my tastes but actually lots of fun.
So, I have a love hate relationship with the Prodos models. The details are often a bit shallow and hard to read, there are too many fine bits that break off. Don't get me wrong, it's the nicest resin I've ever worked with but it's still resin. Also, the mould release agent is really tenacious and hard to remove at times. The surface doesn't take paint well and you have to put on the base coat pretty thick which is a pain with the shallow detail. On the other hand they're great models. Much nicer in person though the painting in the second (fifth?) edition rulebook is amazing.
You can't really complain about not matching up with the old models as the scale and style were all over the place. Especially after second edition which was more stylistically like the Prodos sculpts. Does anyone really remember the original Etoiles Mortant sculpts fondly? Or Blessed Vestal Laura? YIKES!
I know Prodos is unpopular with some due to disastrous kickstarter screw-ups. But I think it's better that they kept going and keep trying to straighten it out. They could have just disappeared with the money like so many others. Doing what they could to stay afloat and fulfill their promises seems laudable to me.
So, personally the question is what you want out of the game. If you have a small group of friends who want a game with affordable army sizes, cool units, and detailed rules, Warzone would be a good choice.
If you want a game with a huge player base and universal support. If you don't have friends who will follow you in. if money is no object. If the time to paint up large forces is available and you don't mind playing with a lot of unpainted plastic. If your modelling skills aren't up to a somewhat difficult material (though Prodos is increasingly moving to one piece, 'unicast' figures)40k is probably the better bet.
Beyond the Gates of Antares, Infinity, Warmachine, and Dead Zone are all decent and well supported alternatives.
