Here's my latest experiment and thoughts on this idea of using these rules without hexes on the table. Be interesting to hear what others have to say or if there are other methods that have been tried.

We game a lot using C&C I've taken to marking my table with hexes, this does cause some concern when playing non-hexed rules. We'll have to try you method.
Here's a shot of one of our games.

AICUSV: Do you just play the regular scenarios? I was wondering how the system would hold up under larger numbers of units. For instance, the last game (non CC:N) I played had I think 60 units on the table for one side.
Would probably require multiple card plays (a la the epic or grand scenarios).
